I reached out to Modern Dog Training specifically because I required force free training for my young, nervous, and anxious puppy Viggo. I loved the level of knowledge and schooling provided on their website and that they stood for behavior modification through up-to-date scientific means using fun and positive associations. I am astounded at how far Viggo has come in only 4 sessions and am continuing his (well, actually, my) training until I feel I've gotten a good handle on things - whenever that time comes. Kelsey has been incredibly professional, responsive, accommodating, caring, and knowledgeable throughout the process. She has so many different things in her arsenal to try and find what works best for your pup so at no time did I feel exasperated or overwhelmed. Modern Dog Training has been worth every penny!

I was recommended to A Modern Dog by a friend who had amazing results so I reached out and quickly had a consultation set up for the next week which was amazing since I knew my pup needed to start training ASAP. Kristen is so incredibly educated and truly passionate about dogs I can see why she comes so highly recommended. My pup was not socialized properly at a young age and showed some serious red flags for potential future aggression. I was able to work closely with Kristen to learn how to manage and direct these behaviors. She was so caring and patient with my pup even when he did not make it easy! After completing our private lessons we are so much further than I thought we would be. I learned a lot about my dog's behavior from Kristen and all the little signs he was giving me that I was missing. I can now play with my dog in a normal manner, put his leash and harness on without a battle, have guests over without worrying he'll get overly excited and jump all over everyone, cook in the kitchen without table surfing and so much more. I cannot recommend Kristen and this team enough!

My partner and I started working with Modern Dog Training RI to help with our reactive rescue pup, Maddi. Maddi was always a nervous dog, but with the pandemic became reactive to other dogs and to people coming inside our house. We moved over the summer, and she became especially bad with people coming into the new place. Working with Kelsey at Modern Dog Training RI, in only 5 lessons we saw a dramatic change in Maddi's behavior, and just as importantly, our ability to handle Maddi's reactivity. Now we are more aware of her warning signs when something is making her uncomfortable, and when she gets past her threshold and starts reacting, we can stay calm and get her to a more comfortable and safe place quickly. From the first time we met Kelsey, she was incredibly professional -- even with Maddi barking her head off at her when they first met! She kept her cool and coached us through everything we needed to do to help Maddi feel safe. Kelsey provided us with a variety of resources (e.g., videos, suggested equipment, and tips). It gave us our own little toolbox in working with and supporting our reactive pup. We would highly recommend Kelsey and Modern Dog Training RI, they have helped us and our pup immensely!

We are so happy we chose Modern Dog training for our high energy pup! Modern Dog started with a consultation that allowed the trainers to learn about our special guy and create an outline of sessions. Each week was filled with valuable information that was tailored to our dog and followed up by notes to make sure our at home work was correct. Our dog is now much more manageable on walks and we have more confidence as dog owners. Best investment we’ve made for our family!
