Lisa has been a tremendous help to us with our dog Lucy. Lisa’s expertise is invaluable! Lucy had been in the shelter for several months when we adopted her at a little over a year old and we don’t know much about her background. She is such a sweet girl with my husband and I but becomes aggressive, anxious and highly excitable in new situations. Lunging when on the leash around other dogs and barking uncontrollably when new people come to our house were 2 of the biggest problems we knew we needed help with. Lisa was recommended to us by another trainer as an expert on training dogs with behaviors such as Lucy’s. We were not at all familiar with over reactive dogs but Lisa right away upon introduction was able to assess and offer positive guidance on how we can help Lucy. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable and experienced but she has a calm manner that is very reassuring. Almost immediately with her specialized help we noticed improvement in certain areas. We like the individual attention and appreciate the small class size. The lessons are broken down into a manageable size and not overwhelming. Also the training booklet includes lots of tips and examples and has been very helpful to use at home while working with Lucy. Lisa is not only wonderful with dogs but with pet parents too! My husband and I both feel that her positive feed back and support in developing a long range plan have helped us understand the steps we need to take for the best outcome. We like that Lisa can see possibilities and sees the good qualities in Lucy just as we do. We don’t dread taking Lucy to class but now look forward to it and so does Lucy! We definitely would recommend training classes with Lisa. Our Lucy is a work in progress we know but those few classes with Lisa have already made a world of difference in our lives with Lucy. 2012 is the first time I spoke with Northern Tails and I have been a loyal supporter of their training methods. I have used Sunday classes in Clayton along with Board and Train. After 12 years Northern Tails is always my FIRST recommendation in the Spokane Area. No matter if you schedule a class in Spokane, Valley or Clayton it is well worth the drive. You will be amazed on the results you see from training with Northern Tails, I just cannot say enough!

My name is Janette Riley. I'm the owner of Doggyland Daycare & Boarding in the Spokane Valley. I have met with many trainers over the course of 13 years of being in business. Lisa Lucas is by far, the best. First and foremost, Lisa uses positive reinforcement training. She does not use shock collars, choke collars, the Alpha Roll, or anything else of that matter. Lisa is definitely gifted. She often can take one look at a dog and know what's going on with them. She is also educated on nutrition and how it plays a part in their training. I highly recommend taking her training classes or one one training.

Lisa more than helped us train our puppy- she taught us how to be compassionate and understanding dog owners. We attended Puppy Kindergarten and her Total Recall class. She was always mindful of all the dogs and owners in the class and no one was ever skipped over or left out. She is incredibly intuitive of a dog's needs and feelings. She was knowledgeable on so many different breeds and their behaviors. She really helped us through rough patches in puppy training after one unexpectedly dropped into our life. Our family would 100% recommend her if you need a dog trainer.
