Northfield Dog Training

We just completed our second hybrid video/in-person class at Northfield Dog Training with Adele Yunk. The hybrid format allows you to watch training videos on specific topics and prepare for the coming in-person class. The videos illustrate, step-by-step, how to successfully complete a task. Each video has a clear objective or objectives listed along with problems that might be encountered along the way, and possible solutions. Adele is careful to point out in the videos when tasks are performed properly, when there’s room for improvement, and when they just are not working – for both the dog and the handler. When you get to the in-person class, this saves a lot of time because everyone is already familiar the exercises and Adele can focus on refining the performance of the dog and the handler. Written instructions and notes that go along with each video are provided for those studious enough to want to do more homework. They’re a great reference and they’re good to have at hand when you’re first trying an exercise.

Adele's knowledge was beneficial in helping us train our 7 month old puppy. The videos that she includes with the classes help prepare you for the upcoming class. The videos along with the written instructions really make the experience enjoyable. Adele gives great advice in how to discourage certain puppy behaviors, such as counter surfing or jumping up on company. It was a joy to work with her and we look forward to working with her again.

Great for competition obedience and rally. Adele is completely breed agnostic and will help you adapt methods for your dog. I recently (5/2023) completed a hybrid puppy kindergarten and really enjoyed it, I especially liked the videos we watched at home because they included a section on what challenges you might face and how to address them. Just more evidence of how Adele adapts the training to each puppy, and she recognizes they may respond to training differently. My puppy gained confidence over the course of her class, which she needed.
