Off Leash K9 Training Twin Cities

I can’t say enough positive things about Kent and Off Leash K9 Central Minnesota! We sent our 11 month old husky/boxer mix Indy for a two week board and train. I was definitely worried about dropping him off because he’s was nervous and reactive towards people (and really any other living or noisy thing), but Kent was great and made sure we didn’t need to worry. The daily videos were something we looked forward to and throughout the two weeks we saw noticeable improvement. Kent really nailed down the basics that helped begin to build Indy’s confidence and will transfer into any situation. Plus, we had a 2 hour going-home session with him where he taught us how to continue the training at home and answered all of our questions. I can’t recommend OLK9 enough!

Off the leash training caught my eye as a way to get our Carolina mix dog to listen and not be so aggressive towards other dogs. She’s a wild breed mix so she acts in instinct almost all the time. I saw several reviews by others who have this type of breed singing praises and, when I called Becca she told me they could fix that. Great! I drove from North Dakota to the Twin Cities to drop my dogs off with Don who is great! He was honest with me which, apparently, Becca wasn’t. He told me our dog may never been able to be 100% off the leash because of her tendency to be aggressive towards other dogs; and that her aggressive nature towards other dogs cannot be trained out. I almost left without the training. I was promised something that couldn’t be delivered and, since I have two dogs, it was a lot of money to spend to not get what I was promised. That’s the only reason I cannot give 5 stars. I’m very happy I didn’t leave. Don convinced me he could help and he DID! Previously our dogs were runners with no way of getting them to listen. Now our border collie, Max, is acting like a border collie and listening. Allie, our Carolina mix, listens a lot better. I will say, though, if they don’t have their collars on, they will take off which is disappointing. However, Don said with time and practice they will continue to get better. Now I can put Allie in a down and she won’t go near other dogs; she just says there and allows them to go by; without aggression. No more going after other dogs! YEAH!!!! Don was great with our dogs, he’s passionate about what he does and the dogs he cares for. He and his wife were great! He’s made himself available to us whenever we have questions or just need encouragement. He was able to get our dog’s very different personalities right off the bat. He gave us back some well behaved dogs. Allie is a 7 year old Carolina dog/healer mix and almost always acted in instinct but now she has the ability to listen and stop. Max, is a 3 year old border collie who was abused before we got him last year. He just loves to listen to commands now and he especially loves to get his reward-hot dogs, a pat on the head and a “Good Boy”. He’s like a regular border collie now. We are very happy with the results and the honesty from our trainer, Don. I highly recommend Don and Off the Leash! Before this training these dogs would never have done what they’re doing in this picture. We are grateful to Don for the solid foundation he gave us and our dogs. I just caution people, this is a huge investment so, if you don’t have time to continue growing on the foundation given to you, you’ll waste your money. Don told us we need to work with them daily and we can certainly tell when we’ve slacked in that obligation to our dogs. They start to revert and quickly. It’s not only a financial investment but a lifelong obligation to our dogs to continue to work on their skills and manners. We are very happy and grateful!

I cannot overstate how much I recommend Off Leach K9 Training. We have a fun loving energetic 11 month old puppy that needed a little work in the "control" department. We left him with Don for two weeks to work his magic. When we met back up with Don and Monte we could not believe the transformation! Monte is still our fun loving energetic pup, but now he walks next to us without us having to tug on his leash, he sits on command and stays in place if we need him too. Don is extremely talented. You will not regret this investment.

Freya spent two weeks with Don. Loved the daily updates and the communication. Got an awesome baseline for her to continue training as she grows up. As someone who travels and plans to bring the dog with as much as possible, training was crucial . Freya came back with stronger focus and has made life a lot easier being able to have more trust with her off leash everywhere I go. She was well taken care of and very happy. Thanks Don!
