Hello I would like to get a pet therapy certificate to go to nursing homes etc for a dog that I am thinking of adopting. Do you offer these classes? Thanks Leslie M
Yes we do! We recommend taking our obedience courses (starting with Beginner thru Advanced). A couple months prior to the evaluation we offer a 4 week Therapy Dog Prep class. The evaluation is held once a year in either late May or early June.

How old does your puppy need to be to start training and do they need all shots first?
The puppy class says you can start as early as 8 weeks- 6months that's for the puppy class and then the beginner obedience they have to be 6 months or older and yes you need proof they are up to date on vaccines

I brought my then 8 month old puppy, Lottie to Patience for both beginner and intermediate training a couple of years ago. The trainers were fantastic to work with and extremely patient (like their name!). Lottie loved attending classes, getting to meet other puppies and learned easily. I would HIGHLY recommend this school to anyone.
We’ve had both of our dogs go through puppy class with them and they’ve been a huge help! Learning to sit, stay, touch, come, “watch me”, “with me” and more has been vital to building our base skills. They truly are patient and a joy to work with.

The guidance and training at PIDT has been excellent from beginning to end! We have been to other dog training organizations, but most recently with the PIDT team. After completing the Advanced Obedience training at PIDT, Cooper and I decided to take the Therapy Dog Prep course. Not only did we learned what it takes to be a Therapy Dog team, but we were taught so much more. Michelle and her staff have the best combination of expertise, communication skills, and support for Cooper and me to succeed! If you are looking for great dog training at a reasonable cost, then you must give PIDT a try. You won’t be disappointed. Cooper is now an incredible Therapy Dog bringing joy to many others.

100% recommend! We hired Michelle for in-home private training to help with our very re-active Australian cattle dog who is very territorial over us and the home. His anxiety worsened too after bringing our newborn home. Michelle was able to work with us to help calm his anxiety with specific triggers and situations. She also gave us great ideas for playtime with our little girl and plans for when she starts to move around. Michelle’s training is always focused around positive reinforcement and the safety of people and the dogs. Our dogs loved her and our training sessions. We look forward to taking some of PIDT’s fun group classes in the future. Thanks Michelle!
