Paws & Effect Pet Care and Dog Training

My daughter and her dog recently took the Canine Good Citizen class at Paws & Effect and really enjoyed it. The instructor, Janna Light, was clear, patient, encouraging, and helpful. She worked well with the wide range of dogs and people in the class, and used excellent teaching and dog safety techniques. As a dog trainer myself, I am always interested (and maybe a tiny bit judgmental ; ) in other training methods. I found Janna's methods to be entirely positive, so that both the dogs and the people were successful and engaged. we will definitely take another class at Paws & Effect.

Janna has been super helpful in times I've had to be away from my cats. I am very much a home-body, and for several years now she's been my go-to person when I know I'll have to be away for any length of time. She's super responsive and will send updates when she's with my pets, complete with pics! She's comfortable doing the standard cuddling/feeding/bathroom care, but will also go above and beyond with administering medication which is SUPER valuable! This most recent time I called on Janna to help me out, I was feeling a very real anxiety about leaving one of my guys who is sadly nearing the end of his life. She jumped in and sent me updates, enabling me to relax and actually enjoy my time away, which in my stressed-out state was something I desperately needed. I highly recommend Janna to anyone in need of pet care services, and I plan to call her again myself when the need next arises.

I am SO pleased with Janna's training approach which is based on POSITIVE incentive and reinforcement of behaviors. It was very important to me that I find a trainer who isn't so strict that my dogs obey out of fear or punishment but rather it is a fun and pleasant experience for them while they are learning. I trust Janna completely and highly recommend her services! She really knows what she is doing and is very pleasant to work with. My dogs LOVE her!

Janna is great! We've had her stay at our house two different times taking care of both of our dogs. She provided excellent care, was very attentive to their needs and it was a nice feeling knowing we could be gone and things would be left in such good hands. It was so reassuring to have Janna's expertise when one of our dogs was not feeling well while we were out of state; she wasn't eating and Janna went out of her way to get special food from our vet to attend to her needs. So caring and talk about going above and beyond! We wouldn't hesitate to have Janna be in charge any time that we're gone...she's really the best!
