Platte Valley Retriervers review Working with Mark at Platte Valley Retrievers has been a great experience. We have now owned three dogs, an English Cocker, a Lab/Golden/Vizsla mix and now a pure bred Lab. While I could train the first two adequately enough on my own, we were at our witts end with our Lab. After a year and half of struggling with her in everything from walking on leash, to being okay in the house, to being okay with other people/dogs we didn't know what to do. Megan stumbled across Platte Valley Retrievers actually while looking at google maps and after an especially hard day we decided to give him a shot. While I had known others who had sent their dogs away for training, we had never done this before and were not quite sure about it. Mark was great to work with! When we brought Mirabel out to him he showed us where she would be staying and what he woud be doing with her. Honestly in the 15 min she was there and the simple drill he was showing us, we could see that she would be way better when she got home. Throughout her time there (2 months for basic obedience) we picked her up a couple times for the weekend and could already tell that she was better behaved. During her last week there we went out for a couple of training sessions so we could know the commands and when to use them. It was amazing, she heeled on walking, she sat forever and she would remain in place. She transfered her obedience from Mark to us with very little effort. Since we've gotten her home, she has been a new dog. A couple small examples, while I was doing dishes I had her sit so she would stop licking them, when I was done, I forgot to release her and came back a few minutes latter to find her still sitting in the middle of the kitchen. Later we were folding laundry in our kids room, where she was previously not allowed. Well she wanted to come in so we simply had her sit and she was a great dog, just sitting there untill we were done. Overall she has been a much better dog in terms of overall behavior and specific commands since we have gotten her back from Mark. While I was not sure about both the time and financial considerations of her basic obedience training, it was definelty the smartest decicion I have made with a dog so far. We could not be happier with how she turned out and how easy it was to work with Mark and Platte Valley Retrievers.

I got my dog Waylon from Mark and then took him to Mark for obedience training and I couldn’t be happier! We were able to take Waylon home on a few weekends during training which was nice, and Mark kept us updated throughout his training to show us the progress he made. After training, Mark showed us how to continue training Waylon now that he is home and it’s impressive how well Waylon responds to his commands! I will highly recommend Platte Valley Retrievers for anyone that asks me.
