Power Paws Assistance Dogs, Inc.

This is in response to the very recent reply to the downgraded review I made several months ago. Owner did NOT address the fact that they don’t maintain records as required, nor the rudeness of their staff, who actually told me I was non-compliant, because I didn’t travel to their facility 112 miles away for yearly recertification of public access. She said I’d signed a contract agreeing to this, but they’d ‘destroyed’ the contract and couldn’t give me a copy ( I never signed such a document). Since I’m wheelchair bound, the HandiDogs organization they ‘referred’ me to, while an excellent facility, did not meet my needs 7 years ago, and still doesn’t, as I need a dog who is trained by a professional, not one that I must train myself. Luckily I found another trainer in the Phoenix area, and I’m 5 months into the training for that dog. STAY AWAY from Power Paws! I’ve edited this review as the entire staff who trained my dog were fired during a hostile takeover a year or so after I’d completed the program. See that review under the 1 star category. Current manager doesn’t maintain records & contracts as required by law for non-profit organizations. Very well trained dogs with helpful staff. We only wish they would give us dates of training, especially for the weekend visit and the 'boot camp' farther in advance, so physical therapy, doctors appts, and other commitments don't need to be rescheduled. I was also surprised to learn how early we'd be taking our dogs with us for overnight stays during boot camp, and had to scramble to find a hotel for us to stay at (I'm from out of town, and relatives couldn't accommodate me due to dogs in their residence). Staff goes out of their way to be helpful matching you to the best dog for your needs. I am very satisfied with my experience, and would highly recommend Power Paws to others!
