Puptagon

Long overdue review but wanted to express my gratitude to Puptagon and especially their trainer, John for all the time and patience with me and my dog Candy. I adopted Candy in January as my first dog ever. Candy had been returned to the shelter twice due to various circumstances including her leash reactivity. When I first brought Candy in to be assessed for daycare at Happy Paws they quickly established she would not be a candidate yet due to her behavior, but did get me set up for 1:1 training times. Over a number of weeks John worked with Candy on basic commands and helping me to practice with her and get consistent responses from her. I noticed such a change in Candy from being a nervous, very reactive dog on our walks, to becoming a confident happy dog with her tail wagging and head high. John taught me how to keep her in her bubble and get her to the point where she can confidently pass by most dogs at a distance. She’s even been able to make friends with some select dogs in the neighborhood. I’m so happy I brought Candy to Puptagon and invested in making her a happy confident canine companion that is now more excited to learn about the world than afraid of it!

Both of my dogs have been to training lessons at puptagon. I’ve had great experiences with the trainers before but it seems they’re lacking on professional front desk staff (to other’s comments). I called today to inquiry about a couple of daycare spots for next week AND to inquire about a week of intensive training. To my surprise, the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude. She said they didn’t have any spots in an extremely rude way (hey! I’m not an out of Towner looking for one day service in the middle of the holidays! I’ve been a client for a long time!) when I tried to ask my second question, she sighed and said what, like if I was bothering her. I asked if I was bothering her and if she didn’t want to speak with me and could speak with someone else. She got even worse. When I pointed out that she was rude she yelled, yes you read right, she yelled at me that I was the one being rude and to take my rudeness somewhere else. You bet, I’m taking my business somewhere else and will never ever go back to puptagon or recommend any of its services. There are plenty of high quality and caring trainers in the DC area that I don’t need to beg anyone to take my business.
