Will my dog get fat from all the food ?
First, we don’t fat shame humans or dogs, but it’s okay to be worried about your dog’s health and this is a big concern for many people. When clicker training, it is best to use tiny pieces of food and subtract these calories from your dog’s daily food ration. Clicker training is also good exercise and highly stimulating. Dogs work when they clicker train! You may also substitute a training session for one of your dog’s regular mealtimes.

I have tried other trainers before and didn’t get the results I desired – what makes your program and approach different and more effective?
We are often the last stop after clients have been through multiple trainers. Unlike other training approaches that only focus on developing rehearsed behaviors, bribing with treats, or merely managing/bandaid-ing the problem, we have developed a unique approach that fundamentally changes the dog’s state of mind. Once we address the dog’s state of mind, the sky’s the limit for what we can create. By cultivating new habits, teaching the dog to make better choices, training calmness instead of excitability, and employing our unique duration work, we are consistently successful with dogs that others are unable to help. This will be the last dog training you will ever need.

My dog is really aggressive. Do you work with aggressive dogs?
Yes. We work with aggressive dogs. Aggressive dogs will be trained using the same unique and progressive methods used on all dogs but will only be trained at our board and train facility. We have found that aggressive dogs take a little longer to work with. I will determine the length of training during our initial consultation.

Our 8-month-old Boxer puppy, Sadie, just completed a three-week board and train program with Kacey and Jason! We sent Sadie to training to focus on her confidence, household manners, leash skills, and separation anxiety, and we could not be happier with the results. Throughout the three weeks, they sent photos and videos of her progress, along with explanations of what they were working on. When we picked Sadie up, we could immediately tell the difference in her behavior. She can now walk without pulling, understands commands, no longer chases squirrels and birds, and is able to spend time in her crate alone. They provided us with a strong foundation that will set Sadie up for success as she grows into adulthood. Kacey and Jason also gave us in-depth lesson on what they worked on and how to continue the training at home in a fun and positive way. After bringing Sadie home, Kacey & Jason have been checking in and supporting us every step of the way. Kacey & Jason did a fantastic job, you can tell throughout the entire process how passionate and knowledgeable they are about training dogs. We highly recommend Ridgeside K9 for training!

Kassandra is very knowledgeable on reading dog body language and was able to share her knowledge with me to help better understand my boy. For context Sunny is a very excited 6 year old golden retriever that struggled with dog reactivity, anxiety, and loose leash walking. I dreaded taking him out because of the hassle I knew it would be and the lack of control I had over him. Kassandra was able to show me what to do & how to do it with clear explanations. With every lesson & every obstacle she was patient & confident. Her calm & confident energy is what my dog needed. I now feel confident taking my dog out, knowing that Kassandra has given me the right tools and knowledge to handle any new challenges that may come our way. Additionally, I truly appreciate that they continue to check in even after our lessons have ended, it really shows how much they genuinely care.

After searching for trainers, I selected Ridgeside K-9’s board & train program. My dog, Sheldon’s reactivity was difficult. He barked aggressively while on leash when we passed other dogs and people, he broke a finger while lunging at a dog, and I avoided having him in the car because his barking was excessive. I crossed the street if people were approaching us. After six weeks of training at Ridgeside, I have a different dog. I can walk Sheldon on the sidewalk in town ( a miracle). He walks at my side without pulling. He travels in a crate, in the car, with no reactivity. He stops barking and stays in one place when asked. I have tools to communicate with him that he understands. The staff even taught him to be calm in a coffee shop! The entire staff at Ridgeside was committed to Sheldon success. They answered questions promptly. They sent me updates weekly, and more often when asked. I felt like any question or concern I had was important to them. Since completing training, the commitment they have shown to Sheldon’s ongoing success has been incredible. I am so happy I took the leap of faith and invested in this program. I now feel like I have a dog that I can enjoy.
They did a fantastic job training my German Shepherd Dog and took such good care of him. These folks are caring, knowledgeable and their training is very effective. Their love of dogs is evident in every interaction I have with them and every interaction I saw between them and my boy, Peet!
