Do I need puppy training?

It is imperative for puppies to receive proper foundation training. This is particularly important during the critical period which occurs from birth to 16 weeks. During this time puppies should be exposed to as much of the world as possible. Although we understand that they are still very immature and not capable of advanced behaviors it is during this time that puppies can be taught how to learn. Once they understand this process, using a marker based system, they can easily learn throughout their life!

What does our board and train entail?

Training starts immediately upon arrival for a board and train. Dogs will be taught a marker based system of learning. They will be taken out in the community several days a week and during this time they will be required to be neutral to their environment. Throughout training, we will continue to add in distance, duration and distraction to proof all commands and ensure a calm state of mind. We do not believe in one standard training method for all dogs. We will work with owners to build a program to meet the specific needs of their dog and family. We make ourselves available throughout training to answer any questions and alleviate any concerns. We pride ourselves on our transparency and dedication to keeping owners up to date and informed on the progress of training.

BLOWN AWAY by the transformation of our sweet Rocky. He is a loving, sweet boxer, a little over a year old, and was so wild when he’d get around people out other animals. He jumping on everyone, running from us, getting things off the counters, etc. Jeff was our trainer and did an excellent job with Rocky!! We opted for a 4 week BnT and when Rocky came home, he was SO CALM, obedient, and actually had focused self control. The company is very responsive, helpful, and Jeff was very nice, patient, and constantly accessible. Really appreciated all of his work and help!! So thankful!!

We recently used Ridgeside K9 for a 3 week board and train program to help get our puppy on the right track. Cori was our trainer, and I can’t say enough good things about her and the program! This is actually the second time we sent our little girl to training. We received daily updates/photos so we could see what they were working on. Cori was wonderful with communication and our little girl came back much more under control. We have been really happy with Ridgeside and will likely train with them again.

We had a great experience with Ridgeside K9, and especially with Jeff. He picked up our very high-energy Boxer for board and train and returned a calm, obedient dog who’s able to settle and function in our home. Jeff clearly explained the training process from the start, sent daily video updates throughout the program, and was extremely transparent about the progress being made. When training was complete, he brought our dog home and worked with our family directly to make sure we knew how to reinforce the training properly and not undo the work. Professional, thorough, and effective. We would absolutely recommend them.

Emily was amazing with our two highly energetic pups. She did a great job at “training” us as well. We learned how to carry over the lessons she taught the pups and she exposed us to the various tools and modalities. She communicated with us daily and provided training and brag pics for us. So pleased. Couldn’t ask for a more wonderful trainer.

Before the board and train, my pup was very hard to walk on the leash and struggled with remaining calm when he needed to for certain tasks. Now, he understands the difference between play time and house time and can walk freely without a leash! I have to thank Emily for this amazing transformation and for making the turnover as simple as possible!
