Rob's Dogs (Dog Training)

My Aussie, Berry knows about 20 different things but I was unable to get him over the hump for loose leash walking, heeling and a bit of reactivity toward other dogs. A friend of mine recommended Rob’s Dogs in Phoenix, Arizona. She suggested the board and train option. After the initial screening, I enrolled Berry for a week of training with Rob’s Dogs. They did an outstanding job. He advanced way above my expectations. Instrumental in his training were two trainers, Joel and Ayla. I have videos they sent me during training of Ayla working with Berry. I could tell she isn’t only an outstanding trainer but she cares deeply for animals and loves her job. When I picked Berry up, she told me this was the best job she ever had! It pleased me that she loved her job and Berry was excited to see her when she came in to say goodby to him. Joel was also excellent in that he spent over two hours with me on instructions about how to continue the training so Berry would be successful. We even went to the park for additional training. If you’re interested in getting your dog trained for anything I highly recommend Robs dogs. Their enthusiasm isn’t likely to fade because it’s an embedded integral part ingrained in each of his trainers!

My trainer Joel is great. I feel like he has done a great job of helping me understand my rescue dog and how to retrain my brain and make me a better dog owner. It’s all about perception for sure. I was doing it all wrong. I think everyone should do dog training. It helps the owner understand how dogs think totally different than humans. Once you understand basic dog communication it’s much easier to work with your dog. Thanks Joel!

I signed both of my dogs up for a board and train program in June 2024 and paid a total of $8,000 ($4,000 per dog). The reason I felt comfortable making that investment was because I was clearly told that the program included lifetime training support—meaning I could come back for help as long as my dogs were alive and I needed assistance. Over the past two years, I’ve had multiple follow-up sessions (around 3–4), and at no point during those sessions was I ever told there were limits, caps, or that the support would eventually require additional payment. Everything about the experience reinforced what I was originally told. Now April 2026, I’m being told something completely different—that in-person sessions are no longer included beyond this point and anything additional would require payment. That directly contradicts what was communicated to me when I signed up and what has been consistently practiced since. To be clear, I’m not asking for anything extra or outside of scope. I’m simply expecting the terms that were presented at the time of purchase—and that influenced my decision to invest $8,000—to be honored. I do have a call scheduled with management to discuss this, and I’m hoping this can be resolved in a way that reflects the original agreement. I’m more than willing to update this review if that happens.

I went through 1-on-1 training for both on- and off-leash with Rob’s Dogs, and it was fantastic! My last two sessions were with Joel, and he’s absolutely amazing. I highly recommend requesting him. He’s very attuned and passionate about your pup and their training journey. Joel adds a playful energy to each session and is incredibly responsive to any questions you have when practicing at home. My Auggie responded so well and has progressed so much! The whole team is really knowledgeable and offers lifetime support, including refreshers whenever needed.
