Sit Means Sit

We started our dog at Sit Means Sit when she was about 4 years old. We looked for help training our dog because she would pull on our walks, then on the walks she'd react, lunge, and bark at other dogs. We've been doing group classes with SMS for three months, and our dog is SO MUCH BETTER! She's walking in a heel position most of the time, and much less reactive to other dogs. Steve, John, Emily, and the team are very experienced. We consistently try to attend 2-3 group classes every week. We took what we learned and worked with our dog, and the improvement is noticeable. SMS really gives you the knowledge you need to train your dog and have a good relationship with your dog. Our only regret is not doing this sooner!

My Lizzie and I started at Sit Means Sit for puppy class when Sunrise Vet Clinic recommended it to help her socialize. As she was my first dog to train all on my own, I knew it was a good plan. Little did I know what a game changer it would be for us! Lizzie is an energetic, impulsive girl who was extremely mouthy and I have the scars to prove what a land-shark she was! Nothing anyone recommended worked until we started our individual lessons and then leveled classes at SMS! She had a lot of resource guarding tendencies to work through as well, having been the runt of ten in her litter. All those things could have been a recipe for disaster because I have a niece and two nephews who are a constant in my life and safety was a paramount concern for us. I did not know if I would ever be able to trust her not to nip and herd them, jump at or bite at them for various reasons either playing or guarding a toy or food. We practiced and trained and work hard to be good! She loves kids and people more than good or toys and is now working towards becoming a therapy dog with the Go Team here locally in the next year! Lizzie is a sweet, snuggly, furry bundle of joy in my life and it’s been amazing to see her growth! She loves to visit my elementary classroom and give all the kids loves, goes to movie night at the school and adores my niece and nephews as much as they adore her. I know we would not have made it to where we are today without the advice, training and support from Steve and Emily and the other trainers at SMS. And then being able to build friendships and further support through other dog owners through play dates, pack walks and classes makes it even better. There is no question that it has been worth every dime spent and every bit of time spent practicing and training! Best decision we could have made! We have been so pleased with Rook’s progress. When we first got Rook I was covered with bite marks on my backside. She also was super hyper and difficult to control! Through SMS we have been successful in calming her down, and stopping the biting. She is now a great dog! Thank you so much!!! I also think the staff are wonderful--Steve, Ida, Emily, John and Cameron have all worked closely with my dog and me to make her obedient, teach me, and enable both of us to communicate with each other. What a great organization!

Sit means sit has truly been a game-changer for us! Our dog has had a tough time with reactivity, especially around other dogs and males. It used to be really stressful for us just to take him for walks, but in just a few months of training, we've seen amazing progress. It's so heartwarming to see him able to stay focused on us in a room full of dogs, instead of getting worked up. He's learning to trust that we've got his back and he doesn't have to worry or react. We feel like the investment was totally worth it, and we couldn't be happier with the Sit Means Sit team! And whomever said you can’t teach an “old”dog new tricks has clearly never worked with SMS 😂 Our dog is 7.
