Sit Means Sit Dog Training

I am so happy that I used Sit-Means-Sit for my dog Savannah. Savannah is a 5 year old German Shepard/Lab mix. Last April I lost my husband and Savannah was very close to him; she loved him. After he passed we had a lot of adjustments to make and Savannah was becoming more reactive and being fearful. She lost her confidence. Some of the behaviors: running and barking at the fence at people and other dogs, doing the same with the Amazon truck, and when out walking she would bark and lunge at other dogs. It was hard to control her. After reviewing Sit-Means-Sit I had Alex come out for a consultation. He recommended the 3 week Immersion program and he was very honest saying it may or may not work. It was my choice. So being proactive for the sake of Savannah I did the training. It was the best thing I ever did for her! Savannah now has more confidence, is less reactive and fearful, comes when called, and when out walking she doesn’t pay much attention to other dogs. Her trainer was Colleen and she did wonders with my girl. I can’t thank her and all of you enough!

We took our sweet boy Clyde to Sit Means Sit last year and we were super impressed by Jenn and the difference it made in Clyde. We recently adopted a rescue dog Bonnie who was abandoned by her owners (I won’t even get started on that rant). So we took her to Sit Means Sit to their immersion program. I missed her like crazy but Colleen sent me messages about her progress and I saw such sweet pictures and videos on the website that I knew she was doing well. Then they brought Clyde in for a couple of days to train them both together which I was super impressed by. (Clyde is still jealous of Bonnie but I think that is more me spoiling him all his life). Then Colleen came to our house for a training session. I could tell how much Bonnie loves her and what a different dog she is now. Thank you Sit Means Sit for not only training my fur babies but for loving them too.

We enlisted the help of Sit Means Sit after dealing with a fear reactive rescue dog for over a year. We’ve had rescue dogs for 25 years and have never dealt with a reactive dog before. Coop was found severely emaciated with no social skills at 6 months old. Alex met with Coop, and recommended private sessions. He didn’t feel board and train would benefit such an anxious scared dog. I appreciated his honest evaluation. Coop did several private lessons and an in home session. Alex trained us as much as he trained Coop. Coop has now graduated to group training and is doing amazing. He went from a reactive dog who was scared of everything and everyone to a dog who can walk at the park, Home Depot, Pet Smart etc with tail wagging and confidence. Visitors can now come to the house with proper introduction. Coop still has a ways to go but with Alex’s guidance, he is a much different dog than before. He’s so much more relaxed and happy. If Coop didn’t make it at our house, I feared there would be nowhere he could be placed. I too have gone from a worried, upset owner to a more confident, happy leader. We have had a great experience with SMS so far & couldn’t recommend them enough! We started with a free in home consultation with Alex, who was very honest & thorough about what to expect. We signed our puppy, Maverick, up immediately and did 2 more in home meetings with Alex to go over sit, down, place, & leash manners. He also helped us with potty & crate training . During this time, we were also able to take Maverick to weekly 1-hour puppy classes which was great for practicing the basics with distractions. After he turned 6 months, we began the day camps, once per week, with Hayley & she did such a fantastic job! She gave us clear instruction on how to train Maverick while at home & it was very manageable as someone with a busy schedule. Maverick graduated last week and he is on to adult classes to practice what we’ve learned! We are so thankful for the SMS team!
