Sit Means Sit Dog Training - Portland

We are so happy with the training our pup received and the progress he continues to make from Matt and the Sit Means Sit team. We came to Matt with a barky and dog reactive 7 year old dachshund rescue who also wasn't great on a leash. We are proud to say leash walking and reactivity has improved significantly and we are making good progress with the barking as well. Our pup just graduated to group classes and we are excited to continue his training. The house is quieter than it has been since we adopted him and we finally feel like there is hope with having a more calm/quiet dog. Matt and everyone have been so wonderful through the process and have made it super easy for us. We are so grateful to Matt and the Sit Means Sit team and highly recommend them to anyone needing some help with their pup.

I can’t express enough how wonderful Halle has been with helping me train my Belgian Malinois puppy Hailey. At first, I was hesitant to sign up because I wasn’t sure about using an e-collar for training, but I am so thankful I did. We started training in May of 2025, when my dog Hailey was only 5 months old. Halle is a natural at training challenging dogs, and she is incredibly patient and kind in her approach. She has spent extra time with me and Hailey, to ensure I am comfortable with the training techniques and has given Hailey and me a strong educational base to work with. I honestly feel this has also helped me have a stronger relationship with my dog. I can’t recommend Halle enough, she is very knowledgeable, easy to work with and gets results!

Matt is a wonderful, passionate dog trainer with a gentle, skilled hand who connected with my dog right away, he was definitely a perfect fit. His sessions are always fun and engaging, my dog is always wagging his tail and excited to see Matt, and I noticed positive changes immediately: my dog stopped pulling on the leash during walks, stopped barking at other dogs, and settled into a gentle walking pace. Matt has always tailored the training sessions to my dog's needs, adapted to my dog's level, and taught me clear ways to build on my pet new skills so improvement continues between sessions. Matt is very, very patient not only with my dog but with us as owners, consistently reminding and reinforcing what he’s already taught. He genuinely cares, communicates clearly, and provides practical tools that produce noticeable, lasting results. I can’t say enough good things about working with Kaylee! I came in feeling hesitant and a little embarrassed after trying other trainings with my dog and still struggling. From the start, Kaylee made me feel comfortable and supported. She helped me build confidence not only in my dog’s abilities but in my own. I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and I wasn’t sure how a smaller dog would do in this kind of training environment, but Kaylee proved that with the right guidance and encouragement, we could absolutely succeed. Her calm, positive approach and clear direction have made such a difference for both of us. Thanks to Kaylee, I now feel confident handling real-world situations with my dog and know how to set us both up for success.
