I am thankful for South Metro Dog Training, Inc.. My Boxer/Pit mix, Duke, came back from board and train with so much improvement. His obedience levels through the roof. My 5 year old niece can walk him without me worrying he will drag her around the yard. He now listens to my command and stays in sit, keeping an eye on the Amazon delivery driver. A definite welcoming change from his previous levels of uncontrolled energy and excitement. Duke also greeted my mom without knocking her down. Well worth the price and time he spent there. Our dogs are part of our family. I have always been nervous leaving them anywhere while we go on vacation. I don’t like to think about them being alone or in a kennel all the time. Then my husband found Sandy at South Metro Dog Training. We take them there now anytime we go out of town, and I no longer worry how they are doing because I know they are in excellent hands, with people who love dogs and give them love when we aren’t there to do it. I have a little miniature schnauzer who loves to run and play with the other dogs, and I have an older pointer mix. She is the one I worry about the most because she’s just not as young as she used to be. But I don’t worry when she’s at SMDT. I also like that they post pictures of your dogs on their Facebook while they are there to keep you updated on how they are doing. I 100% recommend Sandy and her crew for dog training or boarding!!

My 28-year-old son, Justin, is blind and suffers from anxiety and depression. He had been asking for an emotional support dog, so I sent him to the Humane Society to look at an adult female who was already housebroken and looked like a good fit. When he got there, they instead put him in a room with a 4-month-old shepherd puppy. Of course, he fell in love with the puppy named Alaina and ultimately brought her home. Our worst nightmare came true. She was pooping and peeing all over the house, terrorizing the current Chihuahua resident, and chewing on any cord she could find. Desperate for help, I called several dog trainers in the Metro area who would not, or could not, take her. However, one trainer recommended Sandy at South Metro Dog Training in Shakopee. The first day she was there, Sandy noticed that Alaina had a medical issue and said we needed to pick her up and take her to our vet. Sandy was correct; Alaina had a bladder infection and needed more deworming medication. After a couple weeks of treatment, she was cleared by the vet and ready to go back. Sandy and her crew, who obviously love what they do, trained Alaina to "come," “sit’, “leave it," "touch," and "stay." This was a two-week process, but just to make sure, we asked for an additional week of training. Since she has been home, Alaina has been the perfect little angel. First, using the “leave it” command, she no longer terrorizes the little Chihuahua. She asks to go outside by ringing a bell on the door, and now she only chews on her toys. Best of all, when Justin calls her, she comes right back and touches his hand, so he knows she’s there. He can go outside with her off-leash, and she will stay right by him. During one of their walks, Justin tripped and fell. Alaina stayed right by him, licking his face. Thanks to Sandy and her crew, they turned a horrible situation into a dream come true.
