We considered ourselves pretty competent dog owners and have done a similar board and train program with one of our previous dogs… however we found ourselves with a new rescue from the humane society that just wasn’t fitting in with the rest of our pack of four. We needed the help of a professional to help reprogram our adult pitbull mix into knowing the rules of how civilized dogs live in nice suburban houses, and to leave his survival behaviors of a stray behind. Now Pancho is absolutely perfect… and Jared has gotten us comfortable enough with the eCollar training tool that I plan to implement it to fine tune the behavior of our “good” dogs. (Turns out the new dog wasn’t the only one starting disagreements with the other dogs, the established pack members were being buttheads as well— and Jared helped us recognize that “challenge” body language and how and when to act to correct it.) It will definitely take continued work and consistency on our parts to make sure everyone is on the same page with their lessons, but Rome wasn’t built in a day and Jared has made himself available for ongoing follow up assistance. Obviously with a pack of five animals we have a soft spot for rescues, and Jared’s expertise has helped us make sure we can live happily and peacefully together.
Cautionary note: not all board and train programs are created equal, and knowing this I am skeptical with the trainers I trust. I can 100% guarantee that Jared is the real deal, treating your dog well and using his skills and knowledge to make your pup choose to do the behaviors you want. We don’t have human children—our dogs are our family members— and I am very happy we chose Southern State K-9 with something as important as this. If you’ve never done professional training before, the price can be a bit of sticker shock. I’m writing this review to tell everyone it is worth every penny.
