St. Pete Dog Works

We got Harrie (Harriet) from Baking out Loud rescue in February 2024 when she was 8 months old. She was born in a kennel and lacked social skills and was very afraid of people and other dogs. She also was not leashed trained and would jump on us and others after she got to know them. After trying to correct some of her behaviors, we decided to hire a trainer. One of our neighbors knew of an excellent local trainer, Heather Morris. After contacting her and meeting her, we decided to hire her, since we were getting ready to go to North Carolina for the summer and wanted Harrie to interact with people and other dogs. Since we hike almost daily, we also wanted her not to pull on her leash. Heather met with Harrie and us once a week for 5 weeks and during that time, Heather was able to correct all of the negative behaviors and provide my wife and I the tools we needed to reinforce the positive and desired behavior. Since being in North Carolina, we have enjoyed our hikes and running with her and she is no longer shy of others dogs and humans. We are eternally grateful Heather for helping us with Harrie. We have told all our neighbors with dogs that if you want a highly skilled professional trainer then Heather is your choice. We are so happy with the results Darrel and Brenda Gordon

I adopted a rescue dog in 2023 that I knew was smart and willing, but he was just young and inexperienced in all ways. I felt that a good way for us two to bond and to set some rules down would be for us to enroll in a dog - training class. Because my boy was so "green" we really needed to start from scratch and learn all the basics! As a long-time customer of St Petersbark, I was thrilled to find out that they were starting to offer dog/puppy-training classes at their location on Central. I looked into the training and the trainer (Heather Morris of St Pete Dog Works) and I loved her class offerings and the fact that she kept the sessions small and personal. She has an impressive training background and just "knows" dogs, so I really didn't have to look any further!! We enrolled in a 5-week Family Manners Dog Training class that covered the commands, leash training and more. We made friends with the other owners and their pups, and thanks to Heather's good guidance, graduated with a Canine Good Citizen award!! Heather is a superb trainer. She just understands "DOG"!! She is the one in the room that all the dogs will go to, because she has that confidence and exudes that energy that the dogs want to gravitate towards. Her training is so extensive, she knows all the breeds, and she can tackle any type of issue you may be experiencing or want to understand. If one form of training doesn't work for your pup, she will offer a different solution. She is upbeat, positive and a delight to work with. I highly recommend her!

My mini Aussie Teddy and I had a blast attending St Pete Dog Works 6-week puppy class. I love that the class was small (3 dogs in our class) and the puppies had a blast getting to know each other! Heather is very thorough and truly cares about creating a solid foundation for your puppy. Heather also came to my home to work on some sound aversion challenges Teddy has been having and we are implementing the skills she taught us each day now! I am hoping to attend the next training course w/ Heather soon. Thank you St Pete Dog Works!
