What does trust-based dog training mean?
Trust-based dog training focuses on building a strong relationship between you and your dog through clear communication, leadership, and mutual respect. How do you stop dogs from pulling on the leash, especially during hikes or walks?
At Strong Bond Dog Training, we take a trust-based approach to leash training. Instead of forcing your dog to walk in a rigid position, we teach them that leash walking is a partnership. We help your dog understand that being on a leash still allows them to meet their needs—whether it's sniffing, exploring, or moving at a comfortable pace. We also guide you in choosing the right leash length and walk style to create a stress-free experience.

Whether your dog displays fear-based reactivity, aggression, or anxiety, our training techniques focus on building confidence, trust, and calmness. Do you have any puppy training tips?
Yes! The best thing you can do is start puppy training early. Your puppy is always learning—so the sooner you teach them boundaries, communication, and leadership, the easier it will be as they grow. What is the difference between obedience training and trust-based training?
Obedience training focuses on making the dog comply with commands, often without addressing the root cause of behavioral issues. Trust-based dog training, on the other hand, looks at why a dog is acting a certain way and teaches them through communication, leadership, and relationship-building. This leads to lasting behavioral change instead of just quick fixes.

Alex and Christine are phenomenal dog trainers and great people to work with. I came to them with a challenging dog and a lot of uncertainty for the future of her training and our ability to work effectively as a team. Working closely with Alex and Christine they helped me gain a much deeper understanding and appreciation for relationship based training. Wether it was working on a particular training goal or just trying to understand how my dog may be perceiving a new challenge or experience, Alex always had the ability to patiently break down and develop a plan to guide us towards the next goal. With the help of Strong Bond Training I have developed an amazing relationship with my dog where every challenge and ambition we have as a team can be and so far has been met. I went from having little experience and confidence with my own dog to becoming an effective pack leader, handler and trainer myself all while accomplishing goals and achievements with my dog and building a stronger bonded relationship! If you are willing to learn, listen and put the time in to practice what you are taught at strong bond training the results are amazing.

When I first came to Alex, I dreaded walking my dog. She was a lovely, cuddly dog inside the house with me, and a pulling, lunging, barking nightmare when we walked outside. Though I originally sought dog training to get “control” of her, Alex’s lessons taught us the value of a trusting, equitable relationship with unconditional love. His lessons and patient encouragement have led us from pulling, fighting “walks” to fun-filled explorations. No more pulling me down the sidewalk or bolting if she sees a squirrel. Alex’s lessons have also helped me to approach other challenges in life with less fear and anxiety and more curiosity. The entire program was an excellent experience. He’s a great dog trainer, teacher and excellent influence for both human and dog.

Strong Bond Dog Pack has been super helpful for both me and my dog! Together we learned what it meant to really be apart of the pack and build a bond that was more meaningful/helpful than just normal dog “obedience/compliance” Alex has a hands on approach with his clients and different tools and techniques than your “typical” dog trainer. He is there to help you with your dogs specific needs and always great with communication and making sure you understand what he is doing. I specifically went with Alex for dog training because I really liked his philosophies behind dog training and how to build a better bond with your dog/pack. These techniques, tactics and helpful hands on approach really helped my dog and while we are continually working on things, the progress/trust made for us both has been night and day and so so helpful! A lot of the techniques he taught were ones I can use throughout my lifetime with my current dogs and future dogs! I highly recommend working with Alex / Strong Bond Dog Pack!

Alex's holistic approach to dog training has been about so much more than obedience, and honestly much more than just dog training - he has guided me to be a better person for my dog by establishing trust, high level communication and consistency. After doing an initial package of training sessions, my pup Finley and I have continued to work with Alex on more complex and higher level behavior elements. I'm amazed at how much Finley grows in just one session. I'm also amazed that I always come away knowing how I can show up as a better, healthier version of myself for my dog.
