Summit K9

My dog started going to Summit for intensive day training and private lessons in 2023. I initially started here because they were one of the few trainers who offer balanced training that is completely tailored to each dog, and it is a nonjudgemental space. They don't just slap a prong/ecollar on the dog, they assess how the dog responds to tools, what the dog and owner are comfortable with, and they also train owners on how to properly use tools if they choose to use them- and I've personally seen others greatly succeed with positive reinforcement only training with Summit! I had tried multiple "force free only" trainers in the area before, and my dogs recall and reactivity did not improve despite working with her every single day. Since training with Summit, my dog now understands what I am asking, is significantly more neutral in public, and is so much more excited to work. Along with 1:1 training, we have done overnight boarding, and taken multiple group classes. I and love the diverse and real-life classes that they offer! Summit also does regular workshops for breed fulfillment that are so impressive, like bite work, scent work, and cani-cross, which my husky has loved being apart of! The owner, Devon, is truly an amazing trainer, and cares so much about each dog. Now, my pup goes for day camp once a week and has such a blast playing with other dogs in a controlled and safe setting while also training! We get a nice report of how her day was each time. I 100% would recommend Summit to all my friends.

We found Summit K9 when Brewer was 5 months old. Being a high energy pup the daycare program was great to help build his socialization skills and helped him work through those high impulse puppy feelings. We have also enrolled in group training, personal training and skills classes. Brewer is a Doberdoodle with endless energy and love, the team has helped with providing guidance, tools, and support in helping him be his best self!

Summit K9 has been an answered prayer for myself and my pup Beau. When we first found them in July of 2024 we were knee deep in the puppy teenager phase: Beau was very defiant of his crate, struggling with being very mouthy, settling, and understand other dogs social cues. When the previous group training we used was taking a break for summer and I received the notice that I would be going from a hybrid to a full time in person I was pretty overwhelmed. We tried traditional doggy daycare but Beau was starting to show problematic overstimulation behaviors ex humping that he previously never exhibited. I found summit k9 from some google searches and we have not looked back. We are daycare regulars with Beau attending 3x a week, and have completed privates, and group classes. All the staff are polite, love dogs, and well informed. As we worked through his behavior issue they helped to tailor his lessons and our homework to work on each week. After group lessons and privates which can feel very overwhelming as your trying to learn and manage an an easily distracted dog they send out emails describing all they covered and the exercises to practice for reference. The team is great about working with you on your comfort level and appropriateness of using tools such as ecollars and prong collars. I was initially very hesitant of tools but the team provided great resources and information, and thorough training that empowered myself and my dog, while enhancing our relationship and communication. Beau who is now about 14 months old is doing great, I am consistently surprised and proud of how much he has improved. He can greet strangers without jumping or grabbing their sleeves. He knows how to settle when there is nothing to do or are waiting even in higher distraction environments. He has a significantly better relationship with his crate. He can recall away from playing with his pals even. He can walk in a heel by other dogs and other exciting people. Beau also loves it he get soo excited as soon as he we get off the exit to head to daycare. Summit k9 makes training and building a relationship with your dog very attainable and natural. The place is always clean and the staff is attentive, I drop off my dog knowing he is going to be safe, well cared for, given personalized obedience and have structured playtime with his pals. Beau would agree summit k9 is the “top dog” of daycare and training and worth every penny.
