Sundance Retrievers

When writing a review, it seems necessary to include something negative or something that needs improvement, but this is difficult in the case of Sundance Retrievers. The owner and lead trainer, Sheryl Sundean is very good with animals and us pet owners. Her training makes use of plenty of positive reinforcement and her cheerful attitude rubs off on her charges. She also has a very helpful and experienced staff and she provides many resources for folks to help with their dogs. We picked up our pup, Charley, two months ago. He is sweet, funny, intelligent and eager to please. Charley was in the advanced companion training program. His training was evident, he knew his commands and was great in the crate. When we got Charley, he was about nine months old making him an adolescent. As dog owners know, the adolescent period for a dog can be challenging even with prior training. Sheryl was very responsive and helped us to address some of Charley’s adolescent behaviors. Charley is settling in nicely, although he is still a little nervous around new people and occasionally barks at outside noises. I feel these issues will decrease as Charley has more time to settle in. Sheryl is great! It is obvious that she is dedicated to her work and she loves her dogs. She helped us to get familiar with training practices and was always available if we had questions or needed some advice. Sheryl also offered future assistance, which is so very important. It is comforting to know that if we have a future behavior issue that I can call Sheryl to talk me through it. In addition, she has offered additional onsite training if needed. I will reiterate that Charley is a great dog, with a kind demeanor and temperament – Sheryl did a great job with him. I highly recommend Sundance Retrievers if you are looking for a trained pup with a great temperament. My husband and I are very happy with our new furry friend!
