Kimberly is the best!! A few months ago I began looking for a trainer to assist me with Hank, my 17month old blue heeler. He was exhibiting fear aggression and insecurities with unfamiliar people, places and other dogs. I found Take The Lead LLC through an internet search...Kimberly responded immediately! We set up a time for Hank's initial assessment/evaluation. It was during this session that I realized we shared similar approaches to training. I was extremely impressed by Kimberly's knowledge, passion and the way she interacted with Hank. She was very respectful and empathetic with his insecurities. As a result, he took to her almost immediately (at that point, it was very unusual for him). She has several training packages to choose from, all of which are fairly priced and an excellent value. After a few short sessions I began to notice several positive changes in Hank's behavior. Kimberly is an excellent advocate for the dogs she works with. She is very knowledge about the various breeds and how to best communicate and teach them, all while encouraging and reinforcing the positive behaviors exhibited. To date, Hank has made dramatic improvements through the behavior modification techniques Kimberly has shown us. That, along with the tools she has suggested have made our training successful. Kimberly is a very engaged, attentive and positive trainer who has the ability to not only work on the dog's behavior but also encourages the owner to improve their own knowledge, giving them the ability to train and recognize behaviors their dog exhibits and to correct them positively. She makes herself available for any situations that occur between training sessions and is excellent with her communication and strategies offered to mitigate any struggles that occur. I rescued Milo (Husky- German Shepard-Malonois mix) who was hours away from being euthanized. He had been hit by a car and to make matters worse he got his head stuck in the fence at the shelter and the fence had to be cut to get him out! Having been through so much trauma, I reached out to Kimberly for training to get Milo on the right track to a happy life. I chose both private and group sessions. The private sessions at my home allowed her to address specific behaviors going on in the home. I'm currently in the group sessions and they are helping Milo with socialization as well as gaining confidence outside the home. Kimberly takes the time to explain the reasoning behind the behaviors and rationale for correcting unwanted behaviors. She is so knowledgeable about dog breeds and focuses the training on those breed instinctive behaviors. In just two short months Milo is an entirely different dog thanks to Kimberly. If you do an internet search for dog trainers, you will find a long list of choices. Do not scroll past Take the Lead! Kimberly will quickly reach out to you, be in communication with you throughout your entire training, and you will never regret your choice! All I can say is Kimberly is amazing!

My husband and I were at our wits' end with our newly adopted husky/frenchie mix. After searching for training in the area, I came across Kimberly and Take The Lead LLC. I don’t even know where to begin. If you are trying to find the right trainer for your dog, this is your sign to work with Kimberly! She truly went above and beyond to help me understand my fur baby. My dog Mocha is a 5 year old Maltese mix with years of bad habits built up. She was reactive, anxious, stressed and barked at everything that moved. This made me dread walking her but when I did I would avoid people at all costs. But your dog doesn’t just need the training, you need it too and Kim really helped both me and Mocha feel so much more confident out in public. Now we love to walk around outlets, sit in front of Starbucks and enjoy a puppucino, have a picnic at the park and people watch. It’s amazing to see Mocha now and it’s all thanks to Kimberly!!

Kimberly has been just the person we needed. We have a 16 month old Ridgeback puppy who was sweet at home but a terror on the leash. Within just a few sessions (and a lot of home work!) we saw a turnaround in our pup. Kimberly showed us exactly what we needed to do, and training sessions with her gave me the confidence to take our dog in public again. We have gone from a dog who pulled so hard that I could barely stay on my feet to a dog that my 75 year old parents are comfortable taking out on a leash. Best money we've ever spent!
