Spent money on a consult due to have a rescue who is leash reactive. It was useless. The only thing I got out of it was that the trainer thinks my dog should be muzzle trained, absolutely nothing new on helping my dog get over fears etc. I had already owned dogs before and done a lot of googling so maybe if you're a new dog owner and not proactive it would be useful, but I wouldn't recommend. No discount or money back even though at the end of the consult we told her we were disappointed. A real waste of money and time.

First time pet owner but grew up with dogs however there is so much to learn. Laura's classes are small, immersive, and extremely helpful. Not only do classes help you bond with your pup, they train the owner. Laura provides wonderful feedback during and after classes and immediately corrects you if you're dog is confused due to improper training techniques. CD3 and 4 are very challenging even for the smartest breeds. Laura gives homework every week and will highlight specific things to work on for trainers based on their breed and interactions with their puppy. I couldn't be happier with my puppy after taking Taproot's classes.

Taproot is a super great program! Laura is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate when it comes to dog training. Initially I went to Taproot because they have a student discount, but now I keep coming back because there’s always something new for us to learn. This was my first time owning a puppy (though I had a dog growing up) and I really felt like I knew everything there was when it came to health and care, but I found out really quickly I didn’t know very much about behavior and training. I started out at City Dog 1, which I thought would be too simple for my Aussie mix but we both learned new things every session. Laura covered broad topics that every dog owner should know (getting your dogs attention, teaching them their name, polite greetings, etc) but within those topics she also discussed little things that I never thought about (making sure you’re rewarding the dog at the right time, how to prevent unwanted behaviors, treating your dog while you grab their collar so they don’t shy away, etc). Even if my pup excelled at the broad topic, we were still gaining knowledge through the little extras that made each command more effective. Laura also creates a welcoming environment by allowing everyone to share their progress, which was great for me as I was often struggling! Learning about everyone else’s triumphs and struggles allowed us all to bond with each other, which is something I didn’t expect to receive in a training program. In addition, the classes are smaller than I expected (around 5-6 dogs) which provides us all one-on-one time with Laura if we need it. The most amazing thing, that I cannot stress enough, is that Laura is quite possibly the most accommodating and helpful dog trainer I have ever met. Whenever I have had an issue or concern about my pups behavior, I could talk to her before or after class and she was always eager to help and encouraging me to try different things. After my pup had a bad and emotional encounter at a dog park, I was able to send Laura an emotional email preparing her for a chat before class. Then, to my surprise, she responded within the hour with empathy, information about common dog park issues, and tips that I can work on to make our experiences better. I have never received such attention and care from an advisor before, My pup just graduated from City Dog 3 and I feel like I owe her so much for everything she has helped me with! We have learned SO much about the differences between concerning and acceptable behavior, how to train your dog beyond what she has shown us, and provided endless opportunities for us to learn new tricks to help our dogs grow up happily. I could go on and on about Laura and Taproot! 13/10 would recommend to all dog owners!!
