The Ace Dog Trainer

We went to Deb with our two rescued pups who gave us trouble with a list of things. Walking on leash (pulling, lunging and barking at other dogs/animals/people passing by,) jumping on guests, pushing to get through doors.. etc. Within moments of arriving, Deb was already working her magic, and putting my nerves to rest. We did a week of board and train + a lesson & it was easily the best decision we have made.. for us AND them. Deb has taught us ALL so much. The way she can read and work with dogs is just amazing. We will continue to go to Deb all things dog related whether that is continued training or boarding. I cannot recommend her enough. With her, it IS possible.😍

I adopted a fearful & quite possibly mistreated pup a few months back. After some time he warmed up to my partner & I, but was fearful of the rest of the world. I decided for his well being & everyone’s safety (he was reactive/aggressive) he needed the help of a behaviorist. Cue Debra...within the first 5 minutes of our foundation lesson, I saw my 7 month old anxiety-riddled dog turn back into the youthful pup I initially adopted. It is difficult work to break YOU of your habits in order for your dog to become a well mannered, sweet, & most importantly happy soul. I (& clearly many others) are beyond thrilled to have come to Debra. I will always be grateful. Our work isn’t through yet but I must say it brings a tear to my eye to see my Lupin thrive. We brought our 5 month old lab mix to Debra for boarding & decided to do the training as well for a week. He is a puppy so we thought all his behaviors were puppy related. He jumped on us, the couch, pulled us on his leash & nibbled on us. He was growing fast and approaching 50 pounds. We knew an 80 pound dog with these behaviors would not be good. I hoped sending him to Debra would help. Boy did it ever!! We found out he was insecure and fearful. Debra kept him for two weeks and in that short amount of time he has improved so much! We learned how to walk him effectively letting him know we are in charge. We are still working on it & if we could we would have kept him longer to do more training. He no longer pulls on the leash. My 13 yr old daughter walks him everyday in the neighborhood without resistance or pulling. The biting is so much better. He tries it but quickly knows it's not ok & stops. He doesn't jump on the couch like he did. He knows he's not supposed to! Debra taught our family the tools we need to work with our dog to help him succeed. She is the best dog whisperer. She understands them & focuses on what each individual dog needs. I highly recommend her for anyone struggling with their dog. She is the absolute best!!

FOR THOSE WITH A RESCUE OR DOGS WHO ARE VERY TIMID / SCARED - THIS REVIEW IS FOR YOU. We just had our final lesson with Deb and we cannot thank her enough. My fiancé and I rescued a 2 year old Shepherd Lab mix, Mia, back in July 2019. To say this dog is scared of sudden noises, like a basketball or tennis ball bouncing, the doorbell, dropping the phone on the coffee table, or even closing a kitchen cabinet is an understatement. Due to her behavior the first few weeks and months of having her, we figured she was around guns and an abusive male owner. She wouldn't come near my fiancé and would hide in her corner of our bedroom - that was her safe spot. She slowly got comfortable with me and I was her go-to-person once we began shutting her out of the bedroom during the day. We considered going to doggy day care to get her acclimated to other dogs, and she would see that it's ok to play and see how other dogs are behaving and having fun! After some back and forth discussions, we decided to research dog trainers in the area- we knew she needed help and that socializing wasn't going to help her. That's when we found Ace Dog Training after a friend recommended us to her. We had our evaluation 4 weeks ago and were told Mia would only need 3 lessons. To be honest, I questioned that and thought, "this dog needs at least 10 due to behavior when fear and panic takes over - which is a lot of the time." But, we did the 3 lessons and WOW. Mia is a completely different dog - we can just see it in her face. She is so much for relaxed and trusts not just me, but my fiancé - something we thought wouldn't happen for a very long time! During our 3 lessons, we worked on how to properly leash handle her in situations and just simply walking her. Who would've thought just proper leash handling would change a dogs behavior... not us!!! Deb truly has an incredible gift and again, we cannot thank her enough for her time and loving care and attention for our first dog.
