I highly recommend John as a dog trainer. I came to him with a dog who was extremely leash reactive, so much so that even being near a stuffed dog would set her off. From our very first session, John broke things down into manageable steps and gave me clear, practical skills to work on in between sessions. In our second session, my dog was able to comfortably walk by the same stuffed dog that had triggered her just a week earlier. In our third session, we worked around real dogs, and while my dog did react, John helped me learn to read her body language and manage her arousal. John teaches you how to support your dog’s success step by step.
What a help! John gave us tips on how to keep our very excitable and energetic pup under control during walks. I didn’t think we could ever get Phoebe to disregard our town's abundance of rabbits but she does now! She’s also a very anxious dog and the trick he taught us to trim her nails has made the task so much easier. Highly recommended!
John was great helping us train our Jack Russell Terrier puppy. He is very knowledgeable and patient. Our puppy made visible strides in every session. John also was great as a resource for any questions we had. Highly recommend him and we will be using him down the road as we move to more complex training commands.
John is thoughtful, knowledgeable and very calm. He helped us train our Australian Shepherd puppy and we’re very happy with the results, as we’ve seen good progress on reducing the puppy’s reactivity. Most of the time it really felt more as training for humans, as he was teaching us how to better communicate with our dog through positive reinforcement. Highly recommend his services!
