The Dog Tamer

I currently have a dog rehomed to me from another family who employed this “behaviorist’s” services. I was told that when they hired this man’s services, he took a young dog with mild issues and turned it into a dog with severe anxiety and aggression toward men. Issues that did not previously present prior to Tom’s involvement. When this dog came to us, the dog cowered and barked and was terrified every time a man stood up in his presence. We contacted the previous owners who said that Tom’s method of “taming” primarily consisted of intimidation tactics to “show the dog who’s boss.” This then led to a bite in the house which prompted them to rehome. This dog now shows fear based aggression every time a man raises his voice or appears intimidating. The previous owners have stated multiple times how horrible Tom was to work with and how much worse everything got with this dog after employing his services. I am now forced to work with a new trainer and do heavy training to undo all of the damage that this “behaviorist” has done to this dog. It is genuinely sickening to see how scared this dog is around men. I am really hoping that it is not irreparable. It is also frustrating that none of his videos show his correction methods, and that he is not transparent at all about said methods. It is also extremely hard to see all of the positive reviews when knowing the damage done to this dog after his involvement. I don’t know how he got his so called certifications, but I also know that for being in business for a claimed 20 years, it is fishy that he only has a little over 100 reviews. Not to mention, I saw a review on Google Maps with someone claiming that he tried to bribe them with a $2000 refund to take down a negative review. I now have to be extremely careful with every interaction for the rest of this dog’s life. This dog is now being muzzle trained for all interactions with men, will need to be locked in a room/kennel when company is involved, will have to be locked away when children are playing, and if anything happens again this dog will need to be put down. This is the reality of what this man has done to this dog. If you plan to enlist this man’s services, I implore you to seek out other options first so the same thing does not happen to you. Update: I have seen the owners response to my review, and my review is neither false nor slanderous. The previous owners were the client of this man, and the dog in question was rehomed to me. So while I may not have personally been a client, I absolutely reserve the right to leave a review on my experiences with a dog that is the product of his services.

We had a tough case—a 5-year-old, semi-housebroken Frenchie who likes to dominate and knew no commands. Tom had him responding to him in less than 5 minutes—no running for the door and sitting within 10 minutes. Tom took a lot of our stress away in our first session and we quickly signed up for more sessions. Tom gave us the tools to understand our Frenchie (think like a dog) and handle challenging behavior. We are so grateful for Tom and his expertise. Five stars is not enough—the Dog Tamer was a game changer for us.

Tom is the BEST! Our family reached out to Tom after getting an AussieDoodle Miniature that was being aggressive with our 3 small children and myself and my husband. From the initial visit to boarding and even afterwards, Tom has been there for our family helping us all! We all wish there was more than five stars because Tom was a life savior. He has changed Oreo to make it easier to continue the training! Tom, there is not enough words to thank you for all that you have done and continue to do! Tom is very knowledgeable, patient, kind, and is very good at what he does! If anyone is in need of looking for help with their dog, Tom is not just a trainer but specializes in behavioral issues and he is definitely the Dog Tamer Master! Thank You Tom times infinity! Even after the training our family has reached out to him with any questions or help we may need and he answers it all! Tom is not just about the money, he seriously cares about the dog and in helping you and your family!It was worth every penny! Tom is the the absolute BEST!!!!!!
