Justin was so helpful with our somewhat reactive 70 lb Pitt mix! He went back to the fundamentals of basic commands with us, taught us how to improve our communication, and get better results with behavior on walks. He taught us how to use new tools that have had such a positive impact on our dog’s ability - not only has his reactivity decreased, but he’s more affectionate, playful, and we can do more activities together. He’s even off Prozac! Justin was both supportive and DIRECT - he didn’t placate us so we grew in the way we needed to best care for our dog. We’ve used other trainers before, but we’ve had the most success with Justin, and that’s why we highly recommend him.

I can’t recommend The Language of Dogs highly enough! Justin was absolutely amazing — patient, knowledgeable, and truly invested in helping us succeed. He and his dog, Brutus, make the entire training process feel manageable and even fun. They taught our dog to stay calm and avoid rushing to the door when people come in, which has been a total game changer. We also worked on off-leash walking in public, and the progress has been incredible. If you’re looking for someone who really understands dogs and gives you the tools to create lasting change, this is the place. Five stars all the way!

As co-founder of Second Chance Rescue, if I were adopting out a dog in New York City that needed training, Justin would be the first person I recommend. He is incredibly knowledgeable about dog behavior and rehabilitation, and he has a natural way of connecting with both dogs and people. Justin’s warm personality and sense of humor make everyone smile, and he truly makes training a positive experience. He also never hesitated to help during our rescue events with adoptable dogs on site! I highly recommend him for dog training.

Justin's approach just makes sense, and if you've been to a few trainers and are feeling hopeless, Justin will dig you out of that hole and provide you the necessary guidance and support to help you and your dog with whatever you are going through. I have had 4 sessions with Justin (2 in person, 1 virtual, and one in the home where the 'trigger' is). I mention that just to reinforce that when Justin says he's going to help you, he means it. For more context, I have a rescue bully, and what also really drew me to Justin is his knowledge of the breed and his own relationship with his dog, Brutus. It's what we all want, to have that intrinsic bond with our dogs (and to thrive in a city that is 100% not meant for dogs). That will look different for each of us, but Justin has the building blocks to get you and your dog there. He will break it down for you. It's very much a partnership and learning experience for not just the dog, but the owner. You will get the coaching and feedback you need to see the results you want -- but you have to be willing to put in the work. 11/10 would recommend Justin to anyone looking for an experienced trainer with proven results. (Also, my dog is working on 'stranger danger' and took to Justin within 3 minutes of meeting him. He has the gift!)
