The Naughty Dog Training

Becky is amazing and I would recommend her to everyone. She is knowledgeable with what she does and makes sure you understand what you need to do to be successful with training. I got blue when he was 8 weeks old and started training right away. I wanted blue to be a therapy dog that comes to work with me everyday so Becky was flexible and came to my work to see how he does in that environment. He now gets to come to work everyday and is a companion for our elderly. The videos are a great tool to reference later as well. If it’s a problem you need fixed or just starting with training I would recommend Becky!

My boyfriend and I did a lot of research when it came to getting a dog. In the end we both decided that getting a Shiba Inu would be the type of dog that best suited our personalities and lifestyles. Now, every site that we searched came with a warning that read something like this: “Do NOT get a Shiba Inu if this is your first dog” or “it takes a special kind of owner to be able to command this type of breed”. Ted had owned a Corgi and I had grown up with Chihuahuas, so we both thought that Shiba Inus couldn’t THAT hard to handle. Yuki (written with the Japanese kanji for “Happiness”) turned out to be a demon. We got her when she was 9 weeks old, and the first few months we had her I would cry every other night because I thought she was out of control; then, she turned 6 months (the lovely teen months in a dog’s life) and I was crying nearly every night, because we didn’t know what to do with her. She would nip, and bite, and attack, and be a mean bully. She would chew the carpet, go crazy on her walks, chew the freaking walls, and get the zoomies 3-4 times a day for about 7-10mins each time. I would constantly ask Ted if we made a mistake and say that we weren’t ready for a dog and we rushed into it. But I didn’t want to give up on our Yuki, because even though her behaviors were far from good, I had fallen in love with her and I knew that I would hate myself if I gave her away. So Ted and I decided to call Becky. And it was basically the best thing that we could’ve done! Becky made us realize that having a smart dog comes with consequences, and that “trainable” does not mean that the dog is going to be doing everything you want. Yuki’s brain is constantly working and she does get bored and bossy when she doesn’t get her way. Becky helped us find ways to keep Yuki entertained without destroying everything we owned and without us having to watch her like hawks. She gave us tips on what to do when Yuki’s behaviors become erratic and how to be more of a presence that says “I’m not your playmate, I’m your parent and you need to respect me”, without resorting to using “mean training methods”. We’ve seen Yuki change so much! She still definitely has the personality of a Shiba (more catlike than dog) but everything that she was doing has toned down by at least 75%. Becky helped us predict when Yuki would start doing her demon stunts, so we can redirect when needed or discipline if she insists on not listening. Yuki loooooves Becky as well. When Becky comes over Yuki is very excited to receive her. Overall, it’s been a pleasure working with Becky and even though Yuki still has some ways to go, at least Ted and I feel like we have some type of control and that things will actually be fine. In short: Fantastic, affordable, and a lifesaver I cannot recommend Becky enough. When we reached out to her we had a seemingly unfixable problem between our newly adopted beagle and my cat of 3 years. At the time we reached out to Becky we were on the verge of having to rehome Annie but she turned everything around for us. As I am writing this my cat and dog are now able to share a room peacefully! Becky will work with you and teach you how to teach your dog. A good trainer spends just as much time training the owner as they do your dog. She understand that not all dogs are one-size-fits-all and will adjust her training methods to suit the individual’s needs. I went with the dream dog program. This allowed my highly distracted beagle to learn the essentials like down, loose leash walking, and much much more. We went from never walking our dog because she would thrash and pull like a freight train to taking her on daily hikes all with Becky’s help!

I purchased the Talk of the Town training for Porter to help her become a great co-thearpist in my counseling practice. Porter has a lot of energy and spirit which sometimes got her into trouble at the office. After completing the program, Porter has learned to be a lady and utilize her counseling skills with our clients. I get comments weekly about I how well behaved she is yet she has retained her spirit. She gets to run off her energy before we go to work and at the end of the day when we get home where she flys through the yard keeping it safe from squirrels and neighborhood cats! I can't thank Becky enough for helping Porter shine!
