The Training Retreat by Barks and Recreation

My 18-month-old boxer, Daisy Boo, had a very bad habit of jumping up on people and pulling during walks. She also played too hard with other dogs at daycare. At 65 pounds, it was not safe for her to be jumping on people. Additionally, since she played so hard, she often ended up separated from the other dogs during daycare. I took her to The Training Retreat, and the change in her has been amazing. Walks are so much more enjoyable for both of us. More importantly, she has greatly reduced her jumping. Also, her doggy manners have improved so much that she can play with the other dogs at daycare! I am thrilled with the results. She still has her goofy boxer personality, only gentler and much better behaved. Taking her to The Training Retreat has been one of the best things I've done for her.

I had a 9 year old Newfoundland and a 4 year old Irish Wolfhound, that had never been on a leash or socialized. We lived out in the country. They helped train our dogs and us to instruct them. They also helped with disengaging with people and dogs we didn’t want them to be around. We can now go to stores and for walks with confidence. Thank you so much for the training and support after the training sessions.

Full disclosure: I was desperately searching for someone to help with my dog, who has a history of aggression and had even bitten someone before. After a two-week training camp here, he’s like a completely different dog! My pup is unrecognizable on a leash and around new people. Bonus, he is visibly excited every time we pull into the facility. The team has been incredibly patient and transparent about their training process. The trainers are wonderful to work with—kind, professional, and attentive to the unique needs of each dog in their care. I’m excited to see how the team continues to grow in their new location and will definitely be a returning customer. Thank you, Tyler and Jen!

10/10!!! We had our 10 month old corgi Willow for training camp to become a therapy dog for my assisted living facility. a from the first interaction I could tell this was a team that cares about dogs. I originally called to set up a training camp prior to adopting my girl. They insisted on coming to the house for an evaluation first to ensure training camp would be helpful. I couldn’t believe the integrity to start with lower cost services first to save me money. After Tyler came to the house he deemed she would be a good therapy dog. After that they even deducted the price of the home visit into the training camp. As for the camp we did a 3 week camp and can’t believe how much progress she made in those short weeks. My dog who didn’t know a single command prior was sitting, staying, knew place, asked permission before entering rooms, knew how to approach new people, don’t jump on anyone, and didn’t bark for attention. I appreciated the updates and lesson at pickup. They are even going to come and check on our progress at home in a few weeks to see how she acclimates. I cant thank them enough for their hard work and love they gave my Willow. 10/10 would recommend!
