Do they use shock collars?
Hi Diane! Thank you for reaching out. We do not generally introduce any remote training in group classes. If you choose to do private sessions, we can help train using any methodology or tools that you are most comfortable with. We do use remote collars on our in-board program for a reliable come behavior.

I have a medium to large dog that I would like to have trained as a service dog for me to help me with my Diabetes. I would like an idea of how much it would be to get him certified as a service dog. Please advise.
I am so sorry that we missed this question. We do offer assistance training diabetic alert dogs. The cost is dependent on which programs are used to build the reliable obedience and task training needed. If you are still in need, I am happy to have some give you a call or set up a free virtual conversation to discuss it all in detail. Any service dog work has a lot of ins and outs, and we are happy to share our expertise.

I need lots of help with my dog Halo. He will be a year old in October and still refuses to be potty trained and he refuses the leash. Can anyone help with this?
Hi Tia! We have a variety of training programs to explore, all detailed on our website www.thunderhawkcanine.com. That said, I think you would be best served by starting with a private training session. The trainer and you could discuss your specific needs and areas of concern and develop a plan of action to get there. We cover a ton of info in that first session- including environmental management to prevent issues, training appropriate behaviors, and realistic goals. Private sessions cost $45 at our facility (Thunderhawk's Academy on 111) and $60 to meet in your home or alternate location, provided its within 30 miles of our facility. Booking requests can be made via the website as well. Looking forward to helping you guys get started.

I brought my puppy here for their Puppy Kindergarten class. Picture this: 20 pounds of chaos with teeth, possessed by the spirit of a caffeinated raccoon, wrapped in an adorable fur coat. A true furry terrorist. Not only were they able to help me get her to focus, but they also redefined a few of her commands to match her show and sport prospect training so I wouldn’t have to undo any progress later. The transformation has been amazing — she’s gone from wild gremlin to confident, attentive partner (like 20% of the time, which for a puppy is amazing). We’re already signed up for both Basic and Intermediate Obedience, and I also do private training here to work on her body conditioning, which has been a huge asset for her future in sports. The trainers are knowledgeable, patient, and have just the right mix of skill and humor to handle even the most “spirited” pups. The cost is also refreshingly affordable compared to many other programs in the area, which means I can keep coming back without needing to sell a kidney. I’m genuinely excited for the next few weeks of classes — if my puppy keeps improving like this, she might just graduate from “tiny tornado” to “respectable citizen”… though I suspect she’ll always keep a little bit of that raccoon sparkle.
Very impressed with Puppy Kindergarten. We have signed up for Basic Obedience. This is worth the time and investment.
We really enjoyed our class at Thunder Hawk Canine. Carmen did a great job each week leading our sessions. Our dogs really benefited from the course, as did my wife and I.
