Mrs. Ream, Your post is full of false statements. Let's recap the non-anecdotal facts behind what happened in our lessons together. We were working to train your truly aggressive dog. Your dog lacks boundaries and connection with you due to your unwillingness to provide any sort of correction during moments of truly aggressive behavior. You demanded on using strictly positive reinforcement techniques. While that sounds great on paper, that isn't what successfully modifies behavior in the majority of aggression cases in dogs. We exhausted the possibility of solely positive reinforcement being able to help Chloe with her aggression by the end of lesson #2. It's true that a good relationship can't exist without boundaries. Each lesson you recited lists of new take-away's. At the start of lesson 2 & 3, you affirmed how much Chloe has improved since we last met. I end lessons by asking clients "Are you happy with what we did today?" And on both of our lessons the answer was "Yes". You claim that I "'No showed", a blatant lie. I admit I did double book you, accidentally. I apologize once again for this. However, I was in the right place at the right time. We saw each other at our training location. We talked then and there. I was already working with another client who had shown up before you. We offered to include you, and not count it as a lesson used. You and I agreed on a phone call in the evening. On this phone call I asked you "What would you like to do from here?" Implying the option of a refund. I even stated that I'd like to make it up to you, because double-booking is unacceptable. You assured me you didn't want any extra compensation, and YOU asked to reschedule that double-booked lesson to a further date. I accepted by lesson 2/3 your demands of using a harness on your aggressive dog. It was unscientific of you to insist on pulling your dog off her feet to get her to move. You cited your experience training horses as justification for dragging your dog around. Dogs are not horses. Dogs have an opposition reflex to being dragged off of their feet. A dog learning to walking in-step, on a loose leash with their handler is a fundamental building block to creating a psychological bond with their handler, especially for dogs with aggression. At the start of lesson 2/3 you stated that you didn't feel comfortable using a slip leash. I respected that and chose to tailor the lesson directly to your specific horse training concepts, and not what actually works. I will never do this again. Upon your arrival to lesson 3/3 your dog quickly attempted to attack another dog. To this, I critiqued that you had just delivered 0 feedback to your dog based on what she had done. You then stated you want to work on your relationship with your dog, as she's a fragile being, and proceeded to coddle her. To address your next lie: I never "tried to force" a single thing on you, by definition of "force". Lessons are full of suggestions. You and I discussed what a TENS Machine is. You have used a TENS Machine in PT on your back. The remote collar I suggested, as we also discussed, can make an auditory "beep" tone, and mild vibration at the same frequency as a cell phone, or a TENS. You demanded on not giving your dog tangible or auditory feedback in a perceivable way to her. You then proceeded to demand a refund. I had already shown up, and was already spending my time with you. You had me meet you to help you, and my time is valuable. I did 75 Private Lessons in March, and you had taken a spot that day. You were denied a refund. I ended the session based on your publicly disruptive, escalating tone of voice. Chloe's outward aggression will likely not be cured only with treats, pets, love, and 180 turns. She needs to understand boundaries, like in any healthy relationship. A tone, vibrate, or TENS will help her with boundaries.
