Training For Trust LLC

We sent Kona, our Cane Corso, to Training For Trust for three weeks, and it has been the best investment for my partner and me, but especially for our puppy (Kona). Owen and Ellie did a phenomenal job with the training, and Kona has been so well-behaved since returning. Kona has also been complimented (by friends and strangers) on being so well-behaved every time we take him out in public. We also appreciated the education provided to us as dog owners, which has positively impacted our household in providing the best life for Kona. We would also note that even after Kona's training, Training For Trust has still provided us with tips, recommendations, and answering questions that we have had. They truly care. We can't express how grateful we are for Owen and Ellie - especially since Kona had some medical complications at the beginning of his training process. Training for Trust is a comprehensive training program that offers practical solutions to emotionally charged situations.  What allowed me to trust Ellie and Owen immediately was the love and understanding they both had for me and my dog. They wanted to get to know me as much as they wanted to understand my dog. In my opinion, that is what makes Ellie and Owen stand out from other trainers. We couldn't have made it this far through our journey together with all the curve balls that have been thrown our way. They have kept us grounded and honest and offered a way for my dog and I to bond beyond what I thought was possible. My family and I continue to be grateful for their tireless commitment to my dog and his loved humans.

- We have a golden retriever puppy that is turning 1 year old in early November. - We found them through a recommendation from our friend. - I am also pregnant so a lot of the concerns I have were amplified by the urgency to correct them before the baby is born. - Issues that we were concerned about, and discussed with Training for Trust LLC: - She was very difficult to walk, kept pulling and was very inattentive to us as we were trying to guide her where to go. She was constantly distracted by other dogs, humans, squirrels, falling leaves, flies that flew around her, etc. - No matter how long our walks were, she would always have energy after the walk - While she didn’t ruin any of our furniture, she never stopped nipping at us/jumping at us - She was also constantly jumping on the kitchen counter to see if there was any food we left out - She would lick the dishes as we were putting them in the dishwasher - If we are in another room without her, she would start demand barking and crying for attention - We managed to crate her at night, but she refused to go in during the day, and she would bark and cry until we let her out - She a section of the couch as her own, and getting her off was invading her territory - She displayed mild symptoms of resource guarding with specific treats that she liked - such as bone marrow - She loves our nieces and nephews, but her energy (expressed as jumping and nipping) made it too dangerous to have her around them. - We previously hired other (very expensive) trainers who took more of a hands-off, 'gentle’ approach. They recommended we give her more freedom but this proved to worsen some of her behaviors. For example, they recommended that we let our dog lead us during walks, and sniff as much as she wants, wherever she wants. - We left her for board-and-train for 4 weeks. After she returned the following improved (It's important to note that we were realistic with our expectations and never expected her to transform into a new puppy, but the training that they provided in just a short amount of time was beyond what we thought was possible!) - She no longer goes on the couch - “Leave it” Command now works! She doesn’t lick dishes as we put them away - Very minimal jumping to see what is on the kitchen counter - She doesn’t cross thresholds (from our apartment to the common hall, to the elevator, while crossing the street) - The trainers practiced walking her alongside an empty stroller so that she will have adjusted to the changes we are going to make as a new family. Now she knows she has certain times she is allowed to sniff and explore during our walks. She walks next to us the entire way with minimal to no pulling (requires just a few corrections). Overall she is more attentive to us and our cues than to her surroundings. - She is learning how to calm herself in the crate during the day, even when we are at home. - We are still working on altering her diet and nutrition based on their recommendations. - We transitioned our "yes" marker word to using a clicker, which allowed for more consistency between my husband and my behavior toward her. - Things we have not tried yet - We have not introduced her to family members - We have not introduced her to new people or dogs. This hasn’t been a priority as of yet. - What I found most impressive with this board-and-train is that they adapted their training to our life circumstances and needs as well as Ollie's unique needs. Their training is very research driven, and they have kept us updated on new information that may be of use to us.

There aren't enough words to express what remarkable trainers Owen and Ellie are!! I have owned many dogs and have had trainers in the past and the dog I have now has been the most challenging for me. I was questioning if I would be able to keep him but thanks to Owen and Ellie That has changed. You can genuinely see the care they have for your dogs Well-being. Guinness Loves Owen and watching him with Guinness gives me a lot of hope on a wonderful dog. Guinness has become and will continue to be.. I would strongly recommend Them to anybody looking for training and obedience.

Starting off this review with a bold statement - Training for Trust is life changing! Our dog Archie was a highly anxious and nervous Rottweiler mix. He had never shown aggressive tendencies but anything new and different to him would send him into a panic. With a young toddler in the house who could be unpredictable, we didn’t want to take any risks with unfortunate accidents. We reached out to Ellie and Owen for help. Sending your dog away to anyone for an extended stay is a big decision. Upon speaking to Ellie, she really put any uncertainties we had at ease. It was obvious that she was experienced and most importantly, caring, and took the time to listen to our concerns and came up with a plan for our goals. After spending 3.5 weeks with Ellie and Owen, Archie came back to us as Archie 2.0. Everything that we loved about him still remained but you could tell he was in a better headspace. It was like therapy for him. He just seemed a lot calmer and more at ease in different situations and he would look to us for guidance instead of spiraling in his own head. He also learned how to walk so nicely on leash, which was important to me since I’m regularly pushing a baby stroller. We could also take him anywhere (outdoor cafes and restaurants), and he gets to enjoy off leash adventures because of his great recall. The world is now bigger and more enjoyable to him. Thanks to Ellie, Archie is the perfect family pet for us. It was the best investment that we could have made for him. There’s also no other person I’d trust with handling Archie. Whenever we need someone to watch him, we reach out to Ellie and Owen first. Archie also looks forward to every visit and hanging out with their pack. They are simply the best.
