Training Spot

Kobe, our cavapoo, joined our family in 2020 as a pup. He is such a loving and sweet dog to our close family; but friends, strangers, other dogs, new sounds and settings sent him into fearful barking. During the pandemic, we were not able to socialize him much with other people and dogs and were encouraged by our vet to seek out the Training Spot for their expertise. We felt so bad for this little guy and were willing to do anything to give him the skills and guidance he needed, so that others could enjoy him like we do. Kobe was first assessed in a meeting with Jenn, where we could discuss our concerns and she could better assess his needs. She assured us that he would be fine in a group pup class, so we signed up for Pup 1 and 2, with Tera, the trainer. Tera does an amazing job of making each dog parent and their dog feel comfortable, respecting each of their individual needs. Her classes are well structured and work with positive encouragement giving you new skills each week to learn and teach your pup throughout the following week. Kobe was making great progress, but Tera encouraged us to build on this by adding a few private lessons to focus on some of the skills he struggled with. He graduated from both Pup classes and to this day is still taking private classes with Tera. I don’t know who is more excited to see Tera, Kobe or us. Each session is so positive and encouraging and we all learn so much. There aren’t enough words to describe the love language Tera has for dogs. She knows their language and they know hers. She has such a respect for them and is so attuned to their body language; tail wagging, jaw, eye, and ear movement and the list goes on. She works on the specific skills you want to achieve. Sometimes we meet at the Training Spot, other times at a park, or at our house; all to improve his skills interacting with other people and dogs. He is now 2 years old and has become such a well-behaved dog who is learning to be calm around other people and dogs. We couldn't have done it without Tera and all her positive reinforcement. Now we take every chance we can to encourage others to check out Tera at the Training Spot. Every dog deserves it!
