Maggie’s reactivity didn’t come from nowhere, and once you understood the why behind her behavior, everything started to shift. You were willing to stay consistent, follow through, and handle her clearly and fairly — and that’s what made the difference. Reactive dogs aren’t “bad” dogs. They’re often overwhelmed dogs who need structure, guidance, and leadership. Watching Maggie go from jumping and barking at everything on walks to being able to move through the world more calmly has been incredibly rewarding. The biggest win here isn’t just that walks are more enjoyable — it’s that you now understand her, and she understands you. That’s the relationship piece that lasts. Early structure, socialization, and clear expectations are critical with powerful working breeds, and you both fully committed to the process. Even as experienced dog owners, you stayed consistent and followed through, which is why Obi has such a strong foundation today. Watching him grow into a confident young dog who can work through his fears, respond reliably, and remain balanced has been incredibly rewarding. One of my favorite things is seeing him return for boarding and recognizing how well you’ve maintained his training. When he’s here in the summer, fully off leash and responsive, that reflects the work you’ve continued at home. You’ve done an excellent job with him. Sandra, this means so much — thank you. It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since Zoey’s Board & Train. Watching her grow into the well-behaved, reliable dog she is today has been such a joy. She truly feels like family to me at this point, and I love having her here for boarding and spending time with her. Being able to take her on outings with confidence — and seeing how trustworthy she is, even with Miss Tessie — is such a testament to the consistency you’ve maintained at home. Dogs don’t stay well-trained by accident. You’ve done a wonderful job reinforcing everything she learned. And yes… Zoey is absolutely irreplaceable. I look forward to helping you with your next dog someday, but there’s no rush. She sets the bar pretty high. Thank you for trusting me with her care and training over the years.
