Trouwe Hond K-9

Writing this review came pretty easy to us as this whole process was effortless and very effective. We shopped around for this type of training and what set David at Trouwe Hond K-9 apart from other training facilities was the amount of information he wanted to share. Before even meeting he spent a good amount of time on the phone with us explaining the process and what to expect. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. This is the guy you want training your dog. We have a 6 month old German Shepherd and his behavior and obedience skills are night and day from when we first dropped him off. We have taken him out in public and tested his training and are getting many compliments on how well behaved our dog is for his age. We have a long road ahead of us because training is an ongoing effort but it was absolutely money well spent. The way that he trains dogs makes a lot more sense than other places we’ve looked at. We are very happy with the results. As far as his training facility is concerned, David runs a clean and efficient shop. We were impressed at how clean and organized everything was with lots of dogs coming and going. It’s a very welcoming environment. We felt very comfortable asking questions and expressing our concerns. If you’re on the fence about it, just do it.

This weekend Bear had his final training session with Dave at Trouwe Hound (graduation photo attached). Bringing Bear to train with Dave was the best decision we ever made. He was able to teach Bear so much in his short time there, but more importantly, he gave us, the owners, the tools and the knowledge to effectively control our puppy. Bear is so smart and loves to train, and we could tell by working with him that Dave truly loves the dogs that he works with. His facilities were incredibly clean and you could tell the dogs loved to be there. We seriously cannot thank Dave enough for everything his training has done for Bear and our little family. I would recommend Trouwe Hound to anyone looking for help with their dog, the training has grown our bond with Bear tremendously. Thanks Dave !

Dave is simply the best. He is the third trainer I've been to with my 1+ year old golden retriever, Peanut, and I wish he had been the first-- he is really all you'll ever need. Peanut did a two-week board & train program with Dave and it was truly amazing to see how much progress Dave was able to make even after a few days. I was nervous to board Pea but did not need to be - Peanut clearly loves Dave and was super happy during visits and in photos. The boarding areas are spotless and the dogs are well cared for. On top of training Peanut, Dave more importantly taught me how to bring the training home and make it a part of our daily routine. Peanut still has his perfect personality but now is well behaved to match and I cannot thank Dave enough for doing that for us. There was not a problem he couldn't fix, and he was supportive and encouraging the whole time. Plus, he is really fun to work with. We can't wait to come back for some tune ups in the future.

I did a lot of research and found Trouwe HondK9. I am so glad we did ! Dave the owner and trainer is an incredible trainer. Grover my 6 month old GSP was pretty crazy . I couldn’t walk him and training him was a nightmare.I was ready to give Grover up. But after picking up Grover from the 2 week training he was a different dog! He is a joy to walk on leash. He listens and looks to me for guidance. He is a calm and obedient dog. Dave takes the time with you and your family to bring out the best in your dog. Try Trouwe- Hond you won’t regret it!

We brought our 2 year old Male German Pinscher Tito to Trouwe Hond with hope to work on his leash pulling, jumping, counter surfing, resource guarding / redirection. We had originally done the “basic” treat training with him, which lead us down the path of him deciding when and how he wanted to cooperate with us. He is stubborn and showed traits of dominance. Before Trouwe Hond, selective hearing was his favorite past time. We were amazed with how well he’s cooperated with us since his training. We feel more confident in the way we communicate with him and understand how we created the grey area before. Dave is a hard worker and it shows. We’ve walked away with a stronger relationship with Tito! We are confident in his behavior and are so proud of the skills we’ve each walked away with. We never expected that Tito would be showing our older dog a thing or two.
