True Bond Canine: Portland Dog Training

We recently adopted a 2 year old Terrier who we discovered had Separation Anxiety issues after bringing him home. We googled for potential trainers and Heidi of True Bond Canine receives excellent reviews. We have since discovered why she receives the reviews. She is passionate, knowledgeable and really cares about the dogs she is working with, she listens and questions us so that she can give the best advice and direction. Our Terrier Tom, is making positive strides in just a few weeks to overcome his anxiety and enjoys the games/homework that Heidi has set. It must be the treats!! We are now able to take short car rides with him relaxing on the back seat with my wife. We would highly recommend Heidi for any form of dog training but clearly she understand how to cope with dogs that have anxiety issues

It was clear from the start that she not only has an extreme wealth of knowledge but passion and love for our dogs to live their best lives. Heidi's expert assessment of Eddie was spot on and I found great value in learning more about his body language and ways to keep his demand behavior and barking in check. We also worked on his reactivity and I loved that after every visit Heidi sent a recap with articles to read and Eddie-specific homework ~ she puts a lot of time into the follow up! Heidi has improved my relationship with Eddie and I am so grateful for her expertise and her devoted enthusiasm for teaching what she loves!!

Prior to meeting with Heidi, Vesper was reactive to dogs at quite a distance. Our walks were usually guided by avoidance. Now that Heidi has taught us some helpful tools - especially one called "scatter", which I use to let Vesper know that treats will be dropped on the ground when she notices another dog - we have been able to enjoy much more manageable walks. The scatter has helped to redirect Vesper’s attention and has even been a fun game. We are now at the point of being able to walk near and look at other dogs with a reward for no reaction. It’s a great feeling to be able to enjoy our outings with less stress. Whenever someone mentions how well-behaved Vesper is I internally laugh at how it was not always this way. It’s been a long journey, and I thank Heidi for the tools that got us here.
