James is one of the best. We did the 2 week program for our 1 year old Boykin. He was wild and crazy and could not stay calm. Living with him was difficult. James has excellent patience to work through the most suborn dog. He literally knows how to train your dog, not just say he does. He taught us the right tools to so we know how to communicate with our dog. We are currently going through the at home visits with him now. It has been a life saver and game changer. Would definitely recommend James to anyone needing help on training their dog. He is also a terrific guy who absolutely loves his job. Trust me, it shows in his work.

James came highly recommended by another client. He did not disappoint. He took our five year old Boxer Lab who was set in her ways,walking was difficult and reactive to other dogs, and saved the quality of our lives. Our dog is happy, walking is enjoyable and we do not fear encounters with other dogs. We, our dog and us, have been taught the tools to work together. A trained dog is a happy dog!! We are very happy with James and his services.

My wife and I are in the middle of a training course with James @ Upstate. We burdened him with not one, but two sibling beagle puppies. Beagles can be a challenge needless to say. My observation is that James uses his proven positive techniques, but doesn't use a cookie cutter approach. He adapts to your desires and more importantly the dogs needs. He impresses with his love for dogs and what is best for them in the end. Believe in his methods and walk away with man's best friend. Remember...you need to embrace his teachings and participate! Dog training isn't magic but James will show you the how and why, while creating a strong base. I am writing this because I beleive a dogs life is too short to waste even a day of frustration for them and/or you. Enough said..."Love Thy Dog".

James at Upstate Dog Academy changed my relationship with my dog for the better. Finn did a complete 180 and made our lives so much better an easier. James is extremely accommodating and cares for his clients and their dogs. We don’t live in the upstate anymore, but any time i need dog boarding, he is still the first person I reach out to for any of Finns needs. I can not recommend or speak highly enough of him and his methods.
