He has helped turn our two very reactive dogs into obedient companions. He doesn’t just train your dogs, he also gives you the tools necessary to continue training and foster a better relationship. James knew exactly what stage I was at with my puppy when I first brought her in. He's open to training your dog using his methods, but how YOU want them trained, based on your goals, wants, and needs. My puppy has some malinois in her and James knew exactly what type of activities, play, and training would work for her, and it did.

James worked with our 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd, and from the very beginning, he was warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He instantly connected with our dog Rey. His personable and caring approach made all the difference.
We had struggled with recall and some stubborn behavior issues, but James was able to achieve what we couldn’t on our own. His training methods were clear, effective, and tailored to our dog’s personality. We saw positive changes almost immediately. James ensured we had the tools to continue the training during the transition to home and even provided a one-on-one shortly after we brought Rey home.
We are so grateful for the progress our pup has made and feel much more confident as dog owners now. If you’re looking for a trainer who truly cares and delivers results, James at Upstate Dog Academy is the one!
