We got a puppy in October 2024 and knew we needed help to raise him. We wanted a strong foundation that would allow us to take Cinnamon anywhere we wanted to go. Dan helped us learn how to be trainers. He helped Cinnamon gain confidence and was integral in socializing our puppy. Cinnamon has grown since then to a well mannered ( most of the time) 7 month old puppy who is much more confident when meeting other dogs; not over enthusiastic when meeting people and truly a really good walking companion. Dan was with us every step of the way, helping when we thought we’d never “ do it right” and with little tweaks we’d be on our way feeling good about the situation. Dan is one of the best dog trainers I have ever worked with. My new dog Charlie was just over a year when I spent a summer in Avon. He was so over-stimulated by all the smells, the other dogs, the traffic... every time we went on a walk he went a little nuts. Dan had been recommended to me by several locals and I went to meet him and after one session, I already had a better idea on how to handle and help Charlie. However I really wanted Charlie to walk well on a leash and be able to go off leash as well. Charlie stayed with Dan for two weeks and not only was Charlie so happy, but he leaned so much! But as an anxious owner, what I really loved was how much Dan kept me updated on what Charlie was doing and learning. I've never worked with a trainer who kept me so in the loop. Dan sent me videos so I could see what Charlie learned and how to copy it. I got lots of check-ins and photos which made leaving Charlie so much easier. My standard poodle, Maisie, and I met Dan when she was a strong, stubborn teenager, who loved to pull very hard on her leash. In just a few 1:1 sessions, Dan trained Maisie (and me) how to walk side by side at an unhurried pace. He also gave me lots of great advice on how to establish better boundaries with her overall. Since then, Maisie’s enjoyed spending time at Dan’s house romping with the other dogs. Being at Dan’s is one of her happy places. Dan has a calm, gentle personality, and dogs seem to trust him instinctively. He knows what he’s doing and gets great results. I recommend him wholeheartedly.
