I cannot say enough great things about Very Good Dog Training and the incredible work Stephen has done with our dog, Bodie. From the very beginning, when he was just a puppy, he provided expert training that set him up for success. They were patient, knowledgeable, and truly invested in helping him become a well-behaved and happy dog. Recently, we brought Bodie back for a two-week refresher course, and once again, they exceeded our expectations. The trainers reinforced all of his foundational skills while addressing a few new challenges, and we were amazed at how much progress he made. They kept us updated throughout the process and ensured that we felt confident continuing his training at home. Bodie came back to us more attentive, well-mannered, and clearly happy with his experience. It’s evident that Very Good Dog Training not only has the expertise but also a genuine love for what they do. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-tier training for their pup!

Stephen is simply the best dog trainer around. I am a new, first-time puppy owner and my first few weeks were overwhelming. I was unsure how to train my puppy, Atlas, and wanted guidance on what the right thing to do was. I went to many trainers, tried group classes, puppy day-care, but nothing seemed to work. I then found Stephen who described his entire board and train process for both Atlas and myself. He discussed the tools he would use and all the personalized exposure and routine Atlas would get at a month board and train. Atlas was exposed to other dogs training with him, children, malls, chickens, beaches, and so much more. All the in-person sessions truly helped integrate my knowledge with what Atlas was learning at his board and train. I slowly became more and more confident with using all the tools and by the time Atlas came home, everything seemed much more manageable. Stephen is always open to answering questions honestly and has provided my family and I with so much knowledge, literature, and tools for success. Atlas is already the best dog ever, but he is truly on his way to being the best trained dog ever. We continue to use all the practices Stephen taught, and teach Atlas more and more every day. Atlas is extremely adaptable and social, two things that were extremely important to myself and my family. I would solely recommend VGDT for anyone looking for dog training, whether your dog is a puppy or one with any “unwanted” behavioral issues. Stephen will be able to guide you, your dog, and your family in the right direction. I would stay Stephen’s training is the reason that we have been able to give Atlas more and more freedom as we build our trust and connection with each other. We are so, so grateful that we found VGDT and are sure to use him for any future dogs that may join our family.

We couldn’t be more grateful for Stephen at Very Good Dog Training! Our Bulldog, Freckles, had some challenging behaviors that we were struggling to manage, particularly when it came to her reactivity in certain situations. Throughout Freckles four week stay, we saw her make incredible progress. She is now much calmer and more responsive in difficult situations. Stephen also taught us how to communicate and manager her in a way that we can handle her with more confidence.
