Walking Dog Training

Our family could not have asked for a better experience with Bethany from Walking Dog Training! She is genuine, knowledgeable, experienced, humble, refreshingly candid, and sweet - all at the same time. Harlee, our extremely nervous and skittish 3-year-old mini Aussie mix, spent 3 weeks with Bethany learning what is expected of her by a handler and learning to meet these expectations (i.e, remaining in a down-stay, place, heel, etc.) even when she’s nervous. Of course it takes more than 3 weeks to turn 3 years of nervousness around, but Bethany helped Harlee establish such a solid foundation with respect to obedience and understanding of the e-collar that we are able to continue Harlee’s training at home with ease. Also, we absolutely loved being able to check in on Harlee’s training progress, which was documented daily on Walking Dog Training’s Instagram stories. As with all dog training programs, the process does not end after the board and train period itself and diligent at home maintenance training is necessary to fully reap the benefits of the board and train experience, but Bethany really sets owners up for success after the boarding and train, simplifying the at home process as much as possible. We’re so grateful for her continued guidance post board and train and love that she continues to check in with us and makes herself available when we reach out with questions. Lastly, Bethany’s help has been huge with respect to keeping a relaxing and enjoyable home environment, especially considering that all 5 of our family’s dogs have been under one roof for the duration of the pandemic. We have loved getting her input and guidance through virtual owner coaching sessions regarding behavior modification for some of the other household pups and hope to be sending a couple more her way for some board and train in the near future.

I cannot imagine what life with our dog would be like without Bethany and Walking Dog Training! I was a little reluctant about committing to the full-board and train at first, but now being on the other side of it I completely appreciate this approach and would never recommend doing anything different. Our dog (only 7 months old at the time) came back more polite, less reactive, and more responsive and able to connect with us. I also love that Bethany is now "our" dog trainer months afterwards. I've texted with issues and concerns and she immediately responded with techniques and things to try. She's even popped over to our house to work on them herself if needed. We also LOVED staying connected to our dog through her social media posts while she was with Bethany for those two weeks! The best.

Bethany at walking dog training has been an absolute life saver for both my family and Peppermint. Peppermint was a highly reactive dog that could not leave the house and if she did she was anxious and reactive, a horrible and DANGEROUS combination. We had followed Bethany on Instagram for about a year before we made our decision to hire her to help up, I wish we had done it sooner! Bethany was personable and professional, we spoke multiple times before we dropped Peppermint off making us feel as comfortable as we could be leaving our dog at someone’s house. While Peppermint was away we received photos and videos daily and got to follow along on Instagram (if you are not following her, do it now, cute dogs, and great advice! ) Now that Peppermint is back at home, we go for walks, we can leave the house, her state of mind has changed drastically! This being said training doesn’t stop - it’s not a quick fix, but you are not alone. Bethany is in it for the long haul, pep talks and training advice are happily provided when you need it. You won’t find a more passionate, caring, and talented trainer!
