Well Balanced Dog Training

My pup just completed a board and train with Well Balanced! He has done a complete 180 in his behavior. Koda used to be fearful/anxious and had very pushy/bratty behavior at home towards our other dog. He has gained so much confidence, impulse control and skills! I love that I got weekly check in calls for them to let me know how he was progressing. I would highly recommend Well Balanced Dog Training!

We love bringing our mountain cur/terrier mix to Well Balanced Dog for safe and affordable training, playgroup sessions, and boarding. As first time dog-owners, we initially enrolled in their puppy training class, and were so impressed with the progress that we continued with playgroup for socialization. Dropoff and pickup are very convenient with our work schedules, and our pup thoroughly enjoys running around with the other dogs while maintaining a consistent crate/sleeping schedule. We are also very pleased with WBD's boarding services -- the dogs are not left alone overnight (they will go home with the trainer), and pricing is surprisingly comparable to Rover sitting/boarding. We've also noticed a huge (non-)difference in her behavior when we picked her up after a long weekend -- she would hardly sleep with Rover boarding, but the few times we've used WBD boarding she was on a consistent sleep/eating/energy level at pickup. I highly recommend WBD's services, and we look forward to enrolling our pup in more of their classes as she gets older.

Meaghen and all the staff at Well Balanced Dog Training gave our 2 dogs a complete reset. Their program is well thought out and the staff are all well trained. I highly recommend their holistic training programs for any dog and especially for reactive dogs. We took a second dog, Sasha, into our home in March 2023. She was a young 1 year old German Shepherd. While she was raised with love in a home with 4 other dogs she was not given structure to learn to regulate herself. Consequently she couldn't stay in her original home. We had a 5 year old dog, who had lived with a second in the house since he was a puppy, so we knew he could get along with other dogs. However he had become leash reactive in the past few years and he had lots of anxiety. It would be a huge understatement to say that the 2 dogs didn't get along. It was World War 3. Sasha was not crate trained and ripped up the crate floor, she couldn't be put into a separate room without scratching the door to pieces, she needed constant physical attention and could not settle without it, she bonded super strongly with me and growled at my wife and son or anyone that approached me, she would viciously fight back against my other dog if he growled to warn her off. We had to coordinate all our moves within the house to keep the 2 dogs separate. The fights were scary so we knew that we needed help way above the common once per week dog training lessons. We sent both dogs in for a long board and train. Sasha came back able to understand basic rules, happy to be crate trained and able to hold long place commands. Indy came back much less anxious and able to settle himself better, and less leash reactive. They could get along at WBD but they still did not get along at home. Indy remembered being pummeled by Sasha and was struggling to feel safe. However we had the tools to put them in place so we could limit and control their interactions. We failed a few times and they had a few fights. We continued sending them once per week to the day time program. We worked hard to follow the WBD training suggestions for the next 2-3 months and the dogs made small, but consistent improvements in their ability to be around each other at our home. Finally after another month or so they started getting along well enough to be able to in the car together without crating them. We could walk both dogs at the same time. Then they started playing a little bit. Now they wake up every morning and play very hard with each other for a long time and repeat this play throughout the day. The transformation is incredible and we couldn't be happier. Both dogs still need to work on not being reactive to other dogs while on leash walks and Sasha still has a hard time when new people come into our home. We will continue working on these issues every day and expect that over time this too will improve. The baseline training WBD provided and their training methodology was really pivotal in getting us to this point. Their training really addresses the core problems reactive dogs struggle with and helps transition the dogs from making their own poor choices in situations to looking to their humans to provide appropriate guidance. I highly recommend all dog owners learn this for all dogs, reactive or not.

I love to tell other dog owners about the skillful, warm, and loving care and training that Well Balanced Dog Training has given our rescue girl, Ruthie. When she arrived from Mississippi, Ruthie developed reactivity to other dogs, especially when on a leash, she lacked confidence, and she brought a treatment-resistant case of heartworm with her. After almost five months of isolation while being treated, she became even more reactive and anxious. We started Ruthie in Learn and Play and then added Reactive Dog training. In just a few short months, the change was remarkable. She's now happy, confident, well -behaved, and so loving.
