Wild At Heart Canine Academy

Bare with me for the long and sappy post. I love WAH so much!!! After two attempts at board and train with another facility, countless in-home appointments with other trainers, I had about given up. I thousands of dollars into my dog training with not a lot of progress. And make no mistake, my dog is a Border Aussie, so he is highly intelligent and trainable. It mostly had to do with ME as a handler. I needed the training. After a small incident in public where my dog lunged at another dog, I knew it was time to get some serious help for the both of us. I called WAH in tears and said "we need help". Alyssa was incredibly compassionate on the phone and promised me we would get my dog the help he deserved. After a short assessment we decided the two week board and train program would be best for him, coupled with in-home sessions. I was nervous because of my previous experience, but I could not be happier with the results! My dog is so well trained and not nearly as reactive on leash. But most importantly, the team at WAH took time with ME. Spent several hours with me teaching me how to handle him. And putting us both in real life situations. Elevators in my building are a problem. So they came out and helped me with that. We also went to an outside cafe to practice. The love they have for my dog is evident but the care they have for the handlers is top notch. I feel confident as a handler of a reactive dog now. I feel like I know exactly how to SAFELY handle the situation for me, my dog and others. I am so happy I made the investment in WAH. They are the best at what they do. And now my buddy can go to day school and play with his friends which makes me so happy. If you are hesitating, DON'T. You will not regret this investment in your baby or you.

WAH was absolutely awesome! Our dog Kahlua was a little over a year old when we enrolled her in a month-long board and train. She wouldn't obey commands, was afraid to go up the stairs, and would pull me all over the place on walks. When we picked her up she was like a new dog. Mykelti was wonderful with giving updates, and posting frequently on Instagram so we could watch her progress. We had complete faith in WAH and knew she was in great hands. Communication was wonderful from start to finish, and they supplied us with all of the equipment needed to ensure a smooth transition. Of course it is up to us to be consistent, following through with what she learned. But I know WAH is there to support us with supplemental training and boarding when needed. I definitely recommend this academy!

My experience with all the trainers here has been outstanding. Mykelti was my dog’s trainer, and Hanna handles Pooch’s day school. Pooch has a challenging history, having faced domestic abuse and multiple shelter stays, even coming close to euthanasia. This background made her behavior unpredictable around unfamiliar people and dogs. She reacted out of fear, even making bite attempts that drew blood from some of our family members and friends. However, Pooch is incredibly well-mannered and responsive to commands now. She completed the four-week board and train program, and the transformation has been remarkable. For example, previously, she would pull on the leash and run off, but now I can walk her around the block off-leash, and she stays in heel and listens. I do believe that dog training is 80% about the owner, but with getting a shelter dog at the age of 1.5 years old, she already formed bad habits from her previous experience. I didn't have the time and capacity to train her all day long. Thanks for WAHC, it’s been wonderful to have her know commands and to be able to use them effectively at home. Best of all, she’s still her silly self! I also love receiving pictures of her throughout the day while she’s in training. If you feel like you've lost all hope with your dog, I highly recommend investing in Wild at Heart Academy.

Wild at Heart Canine Academy is home to the BEST trainers I have ever met. We tried some other trainers before WAHCA and nowhere has ever come close to the level of service and professionalism we see there. They really produce long lasting results with your dog, and they train the owner in addition to the dog! Our boy started training with Aubrie around 7 months. We have done private lessons and a board and train and both experiences were amazing. Our boy is now 15 months and is such a wonderful dog. We can now bring him to coffee shops, Lowe's, the farmers market, and let him run around off leash without worry. Our friends and family constantly comment on how behaved he is. WAHCA helped us build a great bond with our pup and we are forever grateful to them. Highly highly highly recommend Aubrie or any of the other trainers at WAHCA!

Hannah is a miracle worker. When ZuZu first came to live with us, she was skittish, very reactive and hard to control. She had been rescued after being abandoned and living on the streets. ZuZu is a Shepherd mix….a much bigger dog than we were used to….but we felt like she deserved a chance. We began training with Wild at Heart. Hannah taught me how to teach ZuZu how to behave and have self control. I now can take ZuZu into stores where she stays by my side and is calm and obedient. She knows “place” and will stay there until she is released. She will sit calmly at the front door with the door open until I allow her to go. She is a totally different dog. We are so thankful to Hannah and Wild at Heart for all they’ve done to help us train our precious ZuZu
