Your Dog's Guru, Inc

I have been a pro or semi-pro in the world of dogs for over four decades. I have met many wonderful people in dogs and many wonderful trainers. But Mike Jayko is THE best. Mike and Annie have built Your Dogs Guru and I can say no higher praise than this - I would trust them with any dog of mine any time. They are quite simply the best, smartest, most caring, most capable trainers I have met in my life. They just helped me through weeks of a particularly disastously active Australian Shepherd puppy - their work has literally saved her life, our lives, and our home life. His wonderful staff are all first class professionals. Cannot recommend them enough! My HIGHEST praise and gratitude!

In November 2019 I rehomed a female German Shepherd puppy off of Craigs List. We were her 4th owners at 4 months old. Soon after that, the pandemic began and she did not get properly socialized with other dogs or people. Our sweet but anxious dog became reactive towards other dogs, barking and lunging on the leash while I tried to walk her around the neighborhood. She was also nervous and barked at strangers she didn't know. I tried three other trainers, including a positive reinforcement facility and a traditional German Shepherd trainer. The former asked me to discontinue obedience classes while at the latter my dog's behavior became increasingly worse at every class. About a year and a half ago, I stumbled over a Facebook review for Your Dog's Guru praising their work with reactive/aggressive dogs in their Playschool program. I signed Kacey up, and it was the best decision I have made for my dog. They very slowly and methodically began getting Kacey comfortable, working with her, and introducing her to other dogs at her pace. She made slow but steady progress and now happily goes to playschool every week to play with her friends and reinforce her socialization. I also had some invaluable one on one sessions with Michael, who helped me understand how my responses to other dogs were contributing to the issue. I am now able to walk her past other dogs without incident, take her to public places where there are other dogs, and participate in agility classes at another facility. She has gained so much confidence in the last year and a half! Last weekend, Kacey successfully participated in her first agility trial and had a qualifying run! A year ago, taking her to an event with tons of other dogs and strange people would not have even been a possibility. Michael is an extremely knowledgeable and balanced dog trainer, and the Playschool at YDG is a unique program that is very effective at improving each individual dog's behavior, not to mention enjoyable for the dogs. Everyone who works there is well educated in dog behavior and training methods, and it is obvious how much they all love and care about the dogs. I feel extremely fortunate to have found Your Dog's Guru. They truly helped us when others could not, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs assistance with their dog.

This is the best play school and day care ever for your dogs! The owners/ trainers Michael and Annie are the nicest and sweetest people ever. My Golden Retriever has been going to play school there for 3 years since she was a puppy. Their staff play and work with the dogs and they all have a ball! My Golden loves being there and comes home with her unbelievable energy being quite deleted for the night which makes for a good relaxing evening for me. The area is beautiful and large, and they have multiple staff working every day. They take great care of every single pup. I already have multiple friends bringing their dogs there from my recommendations! And the price is very reasonable for the hours.
