We cannot recommend Gordon and Zen Dog Training highly enough. As new puppy owners, we felt slightly lost and overwhelmed at all the advice you read online or in books to train your dog. As we’ve now learned, there is no substitute for hands on learning with your dog and a professional trainer. Gordon is incredibly positive, patient, and trains only with positive reinforcement. Our dog Vince loved going to see him and his fellow dogs in class each week. Beyond the basic commands, we as owners probably learned as much as our dog did. There are so many small tweaks to the way we were doing things (even holding the leash in a different way), that have shaped our dogs behavior for the better. This is the best investment we could’ve made for our dog!

One of the first comments we hear about our dog from friends, family and strangers is how well behaved he is (and how cute he is, but not the point). I do not think Beau would be hearing those comments if it wasn’t for Zen Dog Training. We enrolled Beau at 9 weeks into the puppy socialization and the 6 week school and it’s the best thing we’ve done for him. He was very shy when he first started (see picture from Day 1) and throughout the weeks he has turned into a happy, friendly, confident, goodest boy around. Gordon & his team helped us with standard commands (sit, down, rollover, stay, etc), play biting, crate training, leash walking, and puppy behavior/play. Gordon communicated lots of training tools and documents for us to refer to during the week via email. It is very cool to see not only Beau, but my fiancé and I become more confident throughout the course. Zen Dog Training is a safe environment for puppies and to meet other puppy owners in the area. If you are in the Somerville/Boston area, we highly recommend Zen Dog Training!
I can’t say enough about Gordon & Zen Dog Training. We did the 6 week Ivy League puppy class & our Milo learned all the basics. It was great for my partner & I to get on the same page on how we’d train our puppy. We looked forward to each week’s classes & socializing our pup in a safe environment. I can’t recommend them enough!
Gordon was a pleasure to work with and was incredibly helpful in explaining all the tricky issues you come across with a new puppy! We’ve been following his guidelines and have seen real progress in our pups behavior!
