Zoom Room Dog Training

Update 10/29/2024: Under new management as of 9/13/2024, and I would still give them 4-5 stars. I liked the old trainers, but the new ones seem great too. None of the trainers (before or after the management change) seem to have a ton of experience (if your dog has major issues perhaps seek additional help through a credentialed CPDT-KA). They are well versed in the common positive reinforcement approaches. They may not have a lot of additional strategies if your pet is having trouble, but that goes for the previous and the current trainers. They all reference their class cards, and I don't think that's an issue. It provides excellent structure to the lesson plans. The online scheduling tool has been fantastic for me and a main reason for continuing my dog's training here. Super convenient and decent options (although I would like to see more eventually). I purchased a package prior to the management change, but the prices have since gone up quite a bit. It's a big increase, but still pretty much on-par for most training options in the area. Original review: The Zoom Room has friendly, well trained, and helpful staff. I love that you can pick and choose the class that works with your schedule (vs many puppy classes that are the same day/time every week). The class schedule is posted online, along with pricing/packages. I appreciate transparency. They utilize all positive reinforcement techniques (no aversive or punishment), which is 100% the best method for long-term learning and building trust with your pup. A couple of classes started a few minutes late due to a private session the prior hour. That was the only mild disappointment.

Several months ago, Zoom Room Bellevue's owner sold the business without telling any of the employees. Without any warning or preparation time, everybody was laid off. Zoom Room took this time to hire all new employees. Original staff members were invited to re-apply for their jobs, not offered them back. With this change in management and staff, Zoom Room changed the entire curriculum that all the previous trainers had painstakingly worked on for years. Years of experience and experience in different fields were thrown out the window in place of "Streamlined curriculum". Dogs are individuals and require unique training practices. Humans do not learn the same, why should dogs? In addition to this, they no longer allow reactive dogs into the building. If your dog is any less than "perfectly behaved", you are not welcome at this location. Prices were also dramatically increased. You will end up paying more money for a lower quality of training. Please, whatever you do, do not go here. You will end up wasting your money. These people only care about making money, not helping you or your dog. Go somewhere else where they actually care.
