FirstBarkA pricey dog training method for someone looking for a more self learning guideline approach with lessor cost for a rescue dog. I wish the introductory session was less expensive to allow for a better outcome.

About Barks and Rec. Animal Training and Behavior
Barks and Rec. Animal Training and Behavior is the only facility of its kind in northern Michigan. We use modern, science-based, and empathy-driven positive reinforcement training methods to help you and your dog live your best lives together. Our trainers are highly educated in learning theory, behavior modification, ethology, puppy development, behavior analysis, and more. Our services include group classes, private and in-home training for: puppy socialization, manners and obedience; aggression, reactivity, and separation anxiety; CGC testing and therapy dog prep; and dog sports, including agility, scent work, Rally O, and AKC Fit Dog. Visit our temperature-controlled facility located just South of Chum's Corner in Traverse City.

Agility seemed like a good idea for my active Stardard poodle.. Sandy at Barks and Rec gave our beginning class lots of time and patience. The Agility fundamentals 1 class is great for both dog and owner!! We are having so much fun and my dog gets nice and tired! The facility is spotless and well organized . Staff is knowledgeable and patient . I highly recommend for all dog owners !!
Very informative and helpful dog training classes
Alicia the owner, knows her stuff. She observes the dogs and after class talked to me about what she observed and how I could help my dog. This insight she shares has been amazing at training me to train my dog. Agility classes are the best. We also love Kathy and my dog does also!
The only dog trainer I would bring my dogs to in the northern Michigan area. It was worth driving over an hour to learn from trainers who are committed to continuing education! Their scientifically-supported and humane approach makes a lot of sense, and they were great at providing a comfortable environment for my timid dog.
