Boss K9

We love Boss K9! Our one year old pup Bert, has done a complete 180 since being with Anna and her team for almost a month. Bert used to be very protective of my husband and I, he hated being in his crate, he jumped all over anyone who walked in the door and was very mean towards other dogs. After training with Boss K9, Bert is a totally different dog. He goes into his crate no problem, doesn’t jump on people when they come to the house and walks are a breeze. About a month ago we had someone come over to give an estimate on new windows. I put Bert on his bed and he stayed there the entire time! No barking, no crying and most importantly no jumping! I could not believe how well he behaved. We continue to work with Bert everyday on his training so he can continue to be the best! Anna and her team truly care about the animals they have in their care!

I'll be honest -- I was not sure about balanced training. I committed to purely positive training for a year with my mixed-breed rescue, and I really went for it (joined a training group, read books, became a clicker training pro, used all his food for sessions, the whole 9). We trained for about 2 hours a day for a year. I had fair results - he learned a lot of party tricks and was about 80% reliable off leash - if I had good treats on hand. Unfortunately, that other 20% could have been very dangerous (like chasing a deer across the road or running up to a strange scared or aggressive dog or gorging himself on rotting fish carcasses at the beach). On top of that, he was getting more and more nervous in social situations and around loud noises. I was worried he might teeter toward fearful-aggression if it wasn't addressed. I really wanted him to have off-leash freedom, I didn't want him just listening to commands when he felt like it, and I wanted him to be happy and confident. I'm not saying pure positive won't work for some dogs, or even many, but I found limitations with mine. So I started researching balanced trainers. Be aware that not all balanced trainers use the same approach. I interviewed multiple, and I didn't feel comfortable with all of them. Anna totally got us, and she understood my dog immediately. She answered all one million of my questions, didn't rush us, didn't use salesy demos or try to get us to commit immediately for a discount. I felt instantly comfortable with her, and knew she really cared about the dogs. We booked a 3-week board-and-train. I love that Boss includes a year of follow-ups, because those were extremely important for us the first few months after training. It took a little while to cement in the training-to-home behavior transition (dogs will totally try to revert to previous tricks and humans can be slow learners), but OMG was it worth it. Not only is my guy fully off-leash reliable, he's calmer, more connected to us, and knows how to chill on command for an extended period of time. I didn't really think we needed "down-stays" or "bed-stays," but I was wrong. They are game changers. He can be calm almost anywhere, which means he can come with us almost everywhere. I was worried that balanced training would make him more fearful, but that's not the case at all. He seems more at peace and confident b/c he knows the rules and doesn't have to make constant choices. Everyone comments on how well behaved he is, which is great, but I'm happiest about how much fuller it makes his life. And as a happy bonus, I no longer have stress about that bad 20%, which means I 100% recommend Anna and Boss K9. TLDR: 100% would recommend

Anna and Boss K9 were referred to us by several coworkers. Having lost our female Rottweiler a couple years ago, we decided on a male this time around. He is bigger, stronger, and far more stubborn than our previous Rottie, but he is also an incredible pup. Anna has worked with Dalton since he was 12 weeks old on basic obedience and beyond! She is amazing to watch with him and does a wonderful job explaining not only the what but the why. It is not a “one size fits all” approach and she took the time each lesson to talk with us and adjust the plan accordingly. When any new behaviors have come up, she has been responsive, detailed, and thorough with her suggestions. She tells it like it is and does not sugar coat things, which we appreciate. The puppy classes and board & train experiences have been great. Dalton is a good boy, but needs strong leadership. Anna and her team have given us the tools we need to raise a healthy and happy dog. We understood from the beginning that handling a dog like Dalton would be work but the reward of a well-balanced dog is worth every penny. We HIGHLY recommend Anna and the Boss K9 team!!

We couldn’t recommend Anna and the entire Boss K9 team more highly! Our puppy, Eleanor, needed some basic obedience training and she is like a new dog after spending a few weeks at Boss K9. We were admittedly really nervous to be away from her that long, but received lots of updates on her progress and a ton of reassurance along the way.
