Canine Coach Academy

Our dog went to Mikayla for a two-week board and train program as a very anxious dog, and he came back completely transformed! He’s now so much fun to take on walks, and I feel confident in his skills in a variety of situations. At home, he’s doing great work learning to stay calm, which has made it so much easier for us to enjoy him. The best part is that Mikayla took such great care of him you can truly tell how much she enjoys working with dogs. He’s even excited to see her for follow-up lessons!

Working with Mikayla was a great experience. She’s professional, knowledgeable, and really easy to work with. I was specifically looking for a trainer who had experience with high-energy, high prey-drive dogs, and she was a great fit. I had worked with other trainers in the past, but they didn’t fully meet my dog’s needs. With Mikayla, the training felt much more focused and effective. We saw solid improvements in several areas, especially heel obedience (which is definitely one of her strong points), e-collar recall, and learning how to properly use the e-collar as part of an overall training plan. She does an awesome job building relationships with the dogs she works with and also keeps owners accountable, which made a big difference in our progress. I plan to stay in touch and continue fine-tuning my dog’s training after our sessions. I’d highly recommend Canine Coach Academy to anyone who’s serious about improving their dog’s training.

Mikayla at Canine Coach Academy is a total game-changer. After a year with a different, highly rated trainer and over 40 sessions, my Shepherd-Husky mix still made very little progress, and I was told he’d likely never be trustworthy off-leash because of his breed. Mikayla, however, worked magic. In just a couple of private sessions, Milo became more tuned in, responsive, and genuinely happier. Now, after five sessions, he is confidently off-leash with flawless recall - even with major distractions like cats or coyotes appearing on the trail. I’ve received so many compliments from strangers on our walks that people have actually asked if I’m a professional dog trainer - that’s how effective Mikayla’s work is. Both Milo and I are happier, more confident, and finally understand how to communicate with each other. She has also guided us through introducing a reactive puppy into our home, fence reactivity, crate training, food guarding issues, and has helped several friends with everything from new-baby transitions to serious behavioral concerns. I can’t recommend Mikayla enough! We first met when Lainey was 10 weeks old, and she gave us some helpful pointers. We then attended puppy Pre-K to get the basics down, and later did a few private sessions before taking a short break. Lainey is a Giant Breed Greater Swiss Mountain Dog—very smart, strong-willed, and stubborn. By 7 months, she was pulling on the leash, jumping on friends, and chasing my cats. I was really struggling to manage her. Mikayla’s calm, confident demeanor instantly commanded respect—from both me and Lainey—without ever raising her voice. We enrolled in a two-week board-and-train, and when Lainey came back, she was completely transformed. She’s still a playful puppy, but now she’s manageable with distractions, not chasing the cats, and listens both on and off-leash. I believe it says a lot that even after all of Mikayla’s training and consistency, Lainey still loses her mind with excitement when she sees Mikayla—proof that she’s still a happy, fun-loving dog. Mikayla truly works wonders, and I’m so grateful for her expertise and guidance!
