Our little cowboy corgi Sasha is a great dog but we wanted to give her all the tools to be a happy, safe, and successful part of our family. Lorena helped correct some potential problem behaviors, dial in some of her breed specific ones as well, and helped us get some tools and insight into how to move Sasha in the direction of being a happy, obedient, and calm dog. Her “chill” is greatly increased, and she doesn’t exhibit as much anxiety as she had before. Highly recommend Lorena as a trainer!

There are not enough words for how thankful we we are to Denise and Lorena!! They completely changed our views on training for the better! Our sweet Toby is still very much a puppy, but the changes we’ve seen in him are incredible! And knowing we have their support forever is just amazing! Highly recommend their board and train program! Denise was so good to our sweet boy, and kept us updated the whole way through! They went above and beyond for us, especially when we all got the flu, and we’ll be forever grateful!!

Amazing experience. We adopted a 2 yo doberman mix and it was our first dog, our entire family needed training! Lorena was wonderful to work with, communication was easy, she gave a clear plan and set clear expectations--progress, not perfection! She gave us all the tools and resources we needed to meet each of our goals. Leash training, recall, reactivity, a balanced home life with a well mannered dog etc. Even after "graduation" we continue to make amazing progress and have found Lorena's follow up awesome. Before working with Lorena and Denise at Gen1 K9, our dogs, Rosa and Daisy, were a real challenge. They were loud, unruly, and wouldn’t listen, making everyday activities like walking them stressful. They barked at everything—people, dogs, you name it. We decided to give training a try, with Rosa completing a 3-week day training program and Daisy going through a 4-week in-house training. The transformation has been incredible. It’s like night and day! Now, walks are actually enjoyable. Rosa and Daisy stay calm, listen to commands, and no longer bark at everything they see. We can even take them into town and around people with confidence. It’s such a relief to have well-behaved dogs, and it’s all thanks to Lorena and Denise’s expertise, patience, and dedication. We feel so lucky to have access to this kind of training near Anacortes, Oak Harbor, and the surrounding areas. Having skilled trainers like Lorena and Denise nearby is truly a gift for dog owners. If you’re struggling with your dog’s behavior, we can’t recommend Gen1 K9 enough. They’ve made a world of difference for Rosa, Daisy, and our family!

Denise did amazing work with our 2 year old Newfoundland puppy, Cali. We did the intermittent 3 week board and train. Denise posted videos each day of all the skills Cali was learning. Every weekend Cali came home with us with homework from Denise to practice. Cali improved significantly with her impulse control. She’s improved with not jumping on strangers, not pulling on the leash, and not jumping toward other dogs. Denise has continued to provide support after training as we need it. We are so glad we found Gen1 K9 and Denise! We highly recommend!
